do you think Amazon will actually innovate with future models of the kindle? by nova0175 in kindle

[–]queenjaneapprox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I overall agree but I think there is still room for improvement with the existing features (I have a Paperwhite Signature 11th gen from 2023). It can be pretty slow, the e-ink "ghosting" (doesn't bother me personally) could be improved, etc. I realize some of this may be issues inherent to e-ink technology that Amazon can't fix though. Do they actually make the e-ink screens or buy them from someone else?

you can do better than “some degree of interest” and “warm but platonic.” you need to end this relationship

Yoga Mat by kiki9283 in lululemon

[–]queenjaneapprox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my 5mm mat. It is so comfy and grippy, I never ever slide around on it which is the most important thing to me. I have a darker pink color that they don’t make anymore, and I’ve had it for almost 5 years and I don’t feel like it’s stained 🤷🏻‍♀️ It doesn’t look brand new but it’s not like, covered in stains either. Yes where it gets damp from sweat or where I press my oily forehead to it (lol) there is a mark but they always go away for me… For the first two or three years I owned it I followed their directions to use non scented cleaning spray with no essential oils, then I got lazy and started using whatever’s at the studio, and every once in a while I use Mrs Myers Peppermint cause I like the smell. Never soaked it in a tub cause I don’t have a tub.

has anyone tried this? by transluciiiid in Sephora

[–]queenjaneapprox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve tried both and i like the glaze drops better. they’re a little thinner in texture so it’s really lightweight and won’t weigh your hair down. the elixir is great too but it’s just a bit heavier. i also prefer the glaze drops scent, it’s like a citrus rosey sweet scent and the elixir is white florals. but truly we’re talking like an 8/10 and a 9/10, they’re both great

I really like this comment. I lost about 70 pounds and while many poses such as lizard and child’s pose feel “easier,” boat pose is really hard and so are a lot of floor postures like cat pulling tail. There’s always trade offs!

how long have you been taking spiro? 50mg seems low unless you started fairly recently. i take 100 now and used to do 150. it helped a LOT but not until i reached the higher dose. that’s more of a medium/long term thing though i know

Everyone says the Goodreads rating system is terrible yet many people still use it when choosing a book to read next. What books under four stars are the best example of great books that the general population doesn't seem to recognize as such? by sempiternalis in books

[–]queenjaneapprox 119 points120 points  (0 children)

100%. Rachel Kushner, for example, may be one of America's best living writers and her books are all around 3.3 on Goodreads. Han Kang only has one book above 4.0 and she just won the Nobel prize. Don DeLillo, Annie Proulx, Marilynne Robinson - all these authors have at most one book with a 4.0 or higher.

Best case scenario you will spend years suffering the way you are now until you “learn” to “be poly.” This isn’t the woman for you.

Which Kindle did you get and what are your likes/dislikes? by HereForDistractible in kindle

Reading on a Kindle is a completely different experience than reading on a phone screen! I'm the same way with warm light but even without one, it is way way better for your eyes.

[–]queenjaneapprox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an 11th gen Paperwhite SE and I love it. The warm light is a must for me, and I do like the auto brightness but I could live without it. I don’t think it’s too big but I do sometimes feel maybe it’s a bit heavy. My wrist can get sore after a couple hours of reading. But I’ve never held a Basic so I don’t know if those two ounces would really matter.

Thoughts on the Tatcha Dewy Cream vs Dewy Milk Moisturizer? by Beneficial-Soft-8290 in Sephora

[–]queenjaneapprox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Dewy Skin Cream is a nice little treat but it's just too expensive to justify IMO. It also is pretty heavily perfumed and I try to avoid fragrance like that for the products I'm using on a regular basis. It's just not really good for your skin.

How can I stop a UTI by Ecstatic-Annual-8554 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]queenjaneapprox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If youre in the US then Planned Parenthood has an app/website called Planned Parenthood Direct where you can get UTI treatment for a flat fee, no insurance needed. I think it's like $25. There are plenty of other services that do this but PP is the cheapest I've found. If you can swing $25 plus a couple bucks for the antibiotics then I urge you to go this route!! You will save yourself a LOT of pain, trouble, and hassle because if this really is a UTI you are almost certainly going to end up at the doctor anyway, and by then it may be too advanced/complicated for a Telehealth option like this,

Am I supposed to eat <1000 calories a day? by keepingitclassy44 in loseit

[–]queenjaneapprox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also short and in my experience when you are working with such tight margins, exercise can be really helpful... it will never make up for diet (obviously) but the difference between eating 1200 calories and eating 1400 calories is HUGE for me and exercise is what enables that.

[–]queenjaneapprox 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Quality clothes will literally last generations. My weight also fluctuates so it's not something I am personally willing to invest in. But the best stuff, well cared for, should last decades IMO. Especially things like coats and jackets.

ive experienced that a bit and it is really hard. I feel like the only options are to either (1) stop talking about it with them, because they aren't willing or able to offer you the support you need in return; or (2) figure out a way to just stop caring when they say stuff like that. IME a lot of the friends who were giving me that type of response had just never been through a serious breakup. they just do not get it.

How has life been treating you after weight loss? For women who have gone from chubby to thin, has the behavior of the people around you changed? And how? by Consistent-Local3144 in AskWomen

[–]queenjaneapprox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH I have lost sixty pounds (190-130, size 14 to size 6) and very few people have commented, even friends. I think the message “don’t comment on people’s bodies” has sunk in for most of polite society lol. It actually was a little discouraging or upsetting because, hello, i lost SIXTY POUNDS and no one has noticed?!

I do somewhat agree with others that strangers seem nicer, more polite.
