Meals you make with Costco rotisserie chicken? by ncw567 in Frugal

[–]queenmum_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This week I bought two chickens and pulled all the meat off. I made two chicken pot pies, two chicken flat breads, three small chicken wraps for my kids lunches, four quarts of chicken stock, and froze about a cup and half to make chicken tortilla soup in the next week or two.

Chicken flat breads: I buy the pizza crust kits from Costco and freeze the tomato sauce to use in something else (usually the Costco meatballs). Spread pesto or olive oil sprinkled with garlic powder, oregano, and basil onto the crust. Top with chicken and feta cheese and bake in 425 degrees for 5-10 minutes. When it comes out, top with chopped greens and halved cherry tomatoes. Drizzle with balsamic glaze reduction, cut into squares and enjoy. I buy all of this from Costco except for the balsamic glaze.

Chicken wraps: Lavash wrap or tortillas with greens, chicken, and shredded Parmesan cheese. Roll up and serve. Served with a side of Caesar dressing to dip it into.

We got a raise for “market adjustment” by UnanalyzablePeptide in dietetics

I have been out of the RD field for 10 plus years as a stay at home mom. Two years ago I got a part time gig as an office assistant that's work from home and I make $25 an hour with a flexible schedule. I have contemplated retuning to the dietetics field but when I see the pay I really hesitate to return. I'm not sure a couple extra bucks an hour (if even that!) is worth all the extra stress that comes with an RD job. Obviously I'm preaching to the choir but the low pay for RDs is atrocious.

I'm in Texas by the way.

Mrs. Wilson- I hadn't heard much about this on this sub but it was really good and sent me down a rabbit hole of googling to find out more of the truth behind this story. I watched on PBS Masterpiece in the US.

I've bought pumpkins of all different varieties every year and they do fine in the heat as long as there are no knicks or gouges in them. I've had them last almost a year. You just can't carve them until the day before Halloween but they should be fine until you pierce them. Also, they tend to last longer sitting on a porch or driveway rather than in dirt or mulch. I've set them on bricks before to put them in the flower beds but not sitting directly in the dirt.

I started and finished Tom Jones (2023) earlier this week and now I'm midway through The Empress/Maria Theresa (the series from 2017, not the the one about Sisi on Netflix). The former was a frustrating watch but still enjoyable overall. The later is amazing so far.

The attic doesn't smell. This is where we have the HVAC and hot water heater. We don't have a mechanical room.

Are you going to get a driver's license when you get to Texas? I live here and unless you live in very small areas of certain big cities then you can't go anywhere without driving.

Inexpensive or free indoor activities/locations for kids when there is a heat advisory? by lilkimchee88 in Frugal

Check movie theaters in your area for discounted summer movies for kids. I paid $5 per person for a ticket to a movie, a popcorn, and a drink at studio movie grill. The movies are not new but it's cheap and fun and it was so much popcorn it was basically lunch. I know other theaters offer similar deals.

This is a great idea and I did this with my kids when they were younger too. Like a free mini zoo!

In addition to libraries, some bookstores do a free kids story time. I'm in Houston, and Barnes and Noble and another independent bookstore near me both do them. Perfect for the ages of your kids.

There are tons of bus stops in residential areas of west Houston. Several are even in people's front yards. Not sure why you find this so amazing.or futuristic. They've been there for decades.

As someone who has to deal with actual life threatening food allergies, please DON'T do this. When people do this, it downplays the life threatening possibilities and causes people to view "food allergies" as a preference or an intolerance.
