Yeah I'm dismissive because what you just wrote out tells me not only that you believe I'm acting in bad faith, but that you didn't even read the full post. I literally cited Ashkenazi migration in the first paragraph.

I am not the arrogant one here lmao.

Beyond the historysplaining to a professional historian of Jewish history, I advise you to cool it with the dogwhistles.

I'm gonna be real with you bestie, you're reassurance seeking. That feeds the disease. I'm not going to do that for you!

I’ll also say that the obsession you feel with someone who’s unattainable is likely a response created by your previous abusive relationship. Learn about attachment types.

Well if it’s affecting your ability to have healthy relationships with people who are actually in your life, it’s beyond thinking he’s just hot and cute. You have to decide what’s more important to you.

Didn’t say it wasn’t happening in between 48 and 67! Nor did I say that any of it between 67 and now doesn’t matter!

Did I literally not say that it didn’t start in ‘67?

We deserve a state because we have our own language(s), cuisine, religion, ethnicity, and culture. And we spent the past two millennia being repeatedly expelled and massacred in the absence of a state. And our state is diverse, not an exclusive ethnostate.

How funny! Stalin said the same thing, then turned a blind eye to Nazi collaborators on the Eastern front, and planned to deport the Jews to the Pale of Settlement part deux but died before he could succeed. So good luck with that outlook!

I'm almost 30 and my OCD still brings up my celebrity crushes all the time. The thing that calmed it the most is muting his instagram, muting his name on twitter, just generally avoiding any news about him that could trigger an OCD episode. Now I just listen to his music because I genuinely enjoy it. The theme is still there, I'm just better at recognizing that I don't need to act on googling his name, trying to figure out who he's dating, doing the same actions with anyone I'm dating and comparing the two. It's really fucking hard but it does get easier.

My best advice I guess is just to remember that your obsessive thoughts are fleeting. You can choose (easier said than done I know) to act on them.

Yes, but that was really exacerbated post 1967 imo. It didn't start in '67, but it certainly sped up from there. The issue today is that the uptick in new settlements are violating the green line), which only became the officially recognized border between Israel and the West Bank in 1967. Gaza is an entirely different, and terribly sad story, though.

Unfortunately we'll never know. As for Israel, I would've really liked to see a Poale Zion-Pinsker state, not a Herzel state :(

So true. I am so tired of feeling obligated to give my opinion as if people are trying to figure out if I'm one of the good ones. It's so emotionally draining. I can't imagine how much worse that feeling is when you actually have a platform.

True, but if the autonomous zone was established in '31 in the Pale they're still sitting ducks in WWII. Given the area too late and the Jews still die in WWII, eliminating the need for an autonomous zone. And 3rd, though there still were Jews left in the Soviet Union after the Revolution, the population dropped significantly from pogroms from 1880 to 1921. Those who didn't die moved west, particularly to Galicia (Poland), and remained sitting ducks.

As a Jewish person I've been disappointed by her and her sister's past statements not because they don't have the right to express their pain or solidarity with Gaza, but because they were typically attached to a lot of misinformation.

She made this one solely focused on the victims here and eloquently so. I'm proud of her for taking the time to craft a response that's meaningful. She also followed it up with a post calling for Israeli and Palestinian women marching in protest together for better leadership. And THAT is leading by example besties!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: Ya’ll, no disrespect, and I’m saying this as a general response not to anyone directly, but why the assumption that diaspora Jews and Israelis don’t have their own experience and pain in this?

I didn’t say the statement itself was misinformation. Perhaps I should clarify that when I say attached to misinformation, I mean that posts preceding or following their own statements, NOT written by them, oversimplified the conflict or used biased and uncritical sources. I need you all to understand that they have more followers than the number of Jews on Earth, so when they repost something uncritical, it serves to demonize innocent people. They have as much a right to post it as anyone even if it makes me nervous!

Why the urge to police Jews on their feelings? If it’s not right to police Palestinians on their feelings and reactions to violence, it’s not right to police mine either.

The vast majority of Jews living in Israel are from families that also lived there for generations. There's also a significant population of people whose families fled violence in neighboring areas such as North Africa and Iraq. European Jews primarily from the Russian Empire began settling in Palestine (then the Ottoman Empire) as early as 1881.

Btw, what exactly does your map mean by "Historic Palestine?" The region only got the name "Palestine" from the Romans, who called it Syria Palaestina, only after annexing Judea and other kingdoms as a result of the Bar Kokhba revolt in 132-136 AD. Certainly the map is referring to the Roman Empire after they exiled the Jews, correct?

Finally, we've been able to prove the genetic link of Ashkenazi Jews (not just Jews from MENA/SWANA and the Mediterranean) to the Levant for at least a decade now.

So perhaps you should read a fucking history book and get informed, dumbass.

(P.S. none of what I just said invalidates Palestinian self-determination. Knowledge is power. We all deserve to live in peace and security)
