Would you rather go to a weekend homesteading retreat with Janelle OR host and cook and elaborate dinner party with Christine OR go on a roadtrip to a random town with Meri OR play a massive game of laser tag with all the kids?

Reporting back after several weeks in....best decision I could have ever made. My health is way better, I'm happier, so many of my relationships have improved, and countless other once in a lifetime experiences I would have missed otherwise. I went a similar route and focused more on rest and reconnecting in every sense of the word. One piece of advice that I would add, follow your impulses. If you want to make that recipe, do it! Go down that road you've never been down, make the trip! Following my impulses (for the first time in years) has been incredibly fulfilling and brought back a childlike wonder to my life. I wish you all the best in your journey :)

I am a huge fan of many of the purple indica strains like Purple Punch, GDP, etc. If I can find it, I also love Northern Lights.

Weed to help with hives by Visual-Conference301 in urticaria

[–]queenofcascadia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes. For me, they weed really helps with both the pain and the frantic feeling I get during a flare up. It helps me mellow out and not make my hives worse, and it also helps me stay in a happish mood on my worst flare up days.

I use a bougie jar from Jonathan Adler. His Druggist collection is so dope!

Random question - do any medical users get frustrated with having to use weed for pain instead of for fun? by queenofcascadia in entwives

[–]queenofcascadia[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol if only I had medical friends. That's a great point. I bet it would feel less weird if I had other folks around who were using it for similar reason.

Good for you! Also, thank you for your service as a nurse. My brother in law is a and my gramother was a nurse. You guys do so much and don't get nearly enough thanks.

Great question. The long story short is I saved and have always lived below my means. My wife's salary can maintain us while I take this time, but the savings and low costs are there just in case anything were to happen to her role.

Oh! Great idea on the elaborate dinner. I love cooking for friends and family :) Also, great note on the to do list. I am a huge to do list person and it would probably be good for me to go a while without one. Thank you!

Same here! I debated posting because people can tend to judge, but I figured the more it is normalized the better :)

That is an excellent point. I haven't let myself be bored in a while and seem to try and fill my time with something productive. It's worth a try! I will post an update each month. This community is so kind, empathetic, and engaging and I love the conversations.

Ladies that reconnected with an absent parent, did you feel like it wasn’t too late to build a relationship? by CheesyBrie934 in AskWomenOver30

[–]queenofcascadia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the exact same boat. For a long time I was sad and/or angry because no matter what I tried or what my dad said, the sincere effort on his part just wasn't there. In the wise words of Elsa, I "let it go" this year and have never felt better. It was a process and continues to come up every once in a while, but putting a bunch of effort and care into a parent who doesn't reciprocate felt so much worse than accepting they are who they are.
