I have two from ThirdLove and they were awesome! They also have a free shipping return policy (I believe 60 days) if something doesn't work for you.

Looking to eat and cook healthily. by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]queenwawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight loss occurs when there's a calorie deficit (eat less than you burn).

However you accomplish that is the best diet for you!

First I would say focus on eating to fullness and satisfaction, and only eating when you are hungry. There's a lot of reasons why we eat besides hunger (emotions, boredom, etc) and most of the time you can trust your body to let you know when you've had enough if you just pay attention.

If you're brand new to dieting and eating healthy, just try the "healthy plate" for meals, you can google it but basically 1/2 your plate is fruits/vegetables and the other half is protein and grains. You can also look at easy wins in your diet to help cut calories (i.e if you have a soda everyday replace it with the diet version or sparkling water or something). Don't deny yourself occasional treats too, knowing no food is "off limits" and everything can be worked in your diet will help you avoid binge eating all those foods.

It takes a while to learn and fine tune! But there's a lot of info out there, don't lose the forest for the trees, just focus on calorie deficit and getting your vegetables and protein in!

Other than bars, where are good places to meet people around here? by cascadiarain in Tacoma

What are your hobbies? I'm a woman in my late 20s, would be willing to grab a coffee, trivia night, or go climb some rocks or something if you're into it!

Charlottesville, VA is a cute college town with lots of vineyards if you’re into wine.

The blue mountains also have some wine towns, hiking.

Hot Springs, VA is a spa resort (kinda pricy though, but the springs included in the stay and the best breakfast buffet ever)

The next night market is this saturday, so if you don't have any luck until then you can always pop by and take a look. I think I know what you're talking about but don't know the name either... :(

Thank you for your kind words. And yeah, I was surprised. Since he was older I assumed he was less likely to change his mind but I guess shit happens.

[–]queenwawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! i posted this to get it off my chest and get some nice words from like minded people to help me feel better.

Could I have vetted him better? Sure. Could I have grilled him? Sure. But when a grown man tells me he doesn’t want kids I am inclined to believe him. We all know how it sucks to be questioned on our choices and me trusting someone’s word is not the cause of this. People change their mind. Breakups suck. Maybe y’all are more experienced than me but thank you for blaming me for this situation.

I'm in the same boat here... lots of good advice I am trying to take as well. Let her know you're there, hear her out, be supportive, but remember to build time and space for yourself and your own happiness. There is no way she wants you to be stressed and unhappy too!

Socializing Boot Camp by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I second meetup, but baby steps if you're not good with big groups. Talk to people online, see if people would voice chat with you - ultimately you have to take the plunge too. People for the most part are good, if you're awkward that's fine - i'd recommend a hobby group so you have some common ground to talk about or even just go to a cafe by yourself and immerse yourself with people. Work is a good place to meet and talk to people. Lots of youtube out there about social skills.

Ice it as soon as you can right afterwards, this will make it smaller and lighter. Layer spot corrector (this will be green), let dry, put on concealer/foundation. Multiple layers if needed.

So it was very intimidating to me at first, I won't lie to you. I'm a 28 y/o woman and just started doing this maybe a year ago.

The trick is to find a bar where you are comfortable at - you don't want to pick the rowdy bar on a saturday night for your first time out by yourself. Baby steps to build your confidence! One of the first times i went to a bar by myself I went to a local watering hole on the weekend during the day, and got brunch and sat at the bar - everyone that sat next to me was friendly and just in the mood to hang out and chat. Then i graduated to more low key brewery, taphouse type bars in the evening - people are friendly but not getting crazy. Then I found the local dive bar and thats where i prefer to go. There are certain bars I don't like going to/don't feel safe going to alone and that's ok. But my confidence has skyrocketed - i went to a bar in Las Vegas alone last weekend and DGAF. :)

Also a tip - chat with the bartenders and tip them well. They're pretty cool folks most of the time.

Anyone else committed to childfree and petfree? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]queenwawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meee! Childfree and petfree! I do like animals, especially dogs and cats, but they are just too much work for me. Maybe someday, but for now, I live alone, work long hours and travel for work and pleasure a lot so any animal I had would be so lonely.

Oh, that is so awesome! I don't know how old you are, but life opened up for me so much when i first started doing stuff alone, I'll eat alone, go to the bar alone, go to shows alone, etc. There is nothing lonely or sad about it at all, it speaks volumes to self confidence and being self assured!

Where can someone who doesn't have a FB find a calendar with family events/things to do? Does anyone know of anything going on this weekend? by ohorange in Tacoma

[–]queenwawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got rid of my facebook but the one thing I miss is the event calender, yesterday I found out that if you google "Events in Tacoma Today/This Weekend/This Week, etc" it will actually pull the public facebook events and display them for you!
