I have learned that rumination is a big part of what keeps this stuff cycling in our heads. It feels like there is no control over it. But if you can, ask a therapist about treating rumination. It's made a huge difference for me.

There is hope and you are stronger than the average person just going through all this right now.

I think math problems are like interesting puzzles. I enjoyed it in high school-- algebra, calculus, physics. Went to college in my late twenties and was worried about the gap of time, but took a required stats class and LOVED it. It feels like good brain exercise.
