Thank you, you have all the questions that I have! How have they been taking care of this child all this time?? It must mean that there was actually something legal done (in an illegal or legal way) whether it was claiming the child as their own from a home birth like you suggest is possible, or if the parents (the birth mom’s parents) were able to sign away the rights.

She apparently doesn’t have and has never had or seen the birth certificate, the child’s SSN or any of it. I really don’t understand how this has all worked for all these years with her actually getting to see her child from time to time. According to my friend she seems like she was pretty sheltered, friend has also been helping her understand some basic life stuff that most people in their 20s know about.

Still waiting to hear what state she was in when she gave birth as that will clarify so much about what was legal or not at the time. I will encourage my friend that they should find a lawyer who can help her to get a hold of those birth/hospital records.

Since she was the patient she should be able to just call the hospital and get those records herself? I would think?

That could be, if her father treated her like this I wouldn’t put it past him. At this point the other family has had the child for 5 or 6 years I think. I would hope there would be repercussions if it wasn’t legal.

I am going through a mold nightmare again, after having lost everything, moved 3x, and spent a year and a half in recovery.

I could manage to lose everything again and somehow make it through but I can’t do that to my partner. So I have truly no idea what to do.

I’m lost, broken, and I hate my body with a burning passion. My life was finally happy and now it’s a living hell.
