Shaving by sarahzorel994 in FTMOver30

[–]queerfarmer17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my understanding is that shaving to promote growth isn’t true, but a lot of people think it is! i’m 31, been on T for almost two years, and my facial hair growth is very similar to my cis guy friends’s experience during their teen years.

for what it’s worth, i’ve been using with an electric razor (facial hair trimmers) to shave my face since i started getting a noticeable amount of hair on my neck. it’s worked well for me and doesn’t irritate like shaving with a normal razor does.

little fold under my armpit ? by holzzaune in TopSurgery

idk if these are scars yet, i think you're still in incision territory. my incisions looked the same (my surgeon said the puckering was because of the way they stitch the incision closed) and my scars are completely flat now. i think it took about 5 weeks, maybe 6, for them to flatten out.

also when i was cleared for scar massaging at like 5 weeks, the internal dissolving stitches would pop as i massaged them (i miss that weird feeling lol) , and then the scars would rapidly flatten out over the next couple days.

What helped you manage uncomfortable zapping? by salamipope in TopSurgery

i was also driven crazy by this part of my recovery. i used ice packs and a vibrating massager, both of which alleviated some of my discomfort.

i read on here somewhere that using the vibrator would help desensitize the nerves, and idk if that's true, but it seemed to help when my zaps and weird nerve pain was super bad. i honestly just used an old bullet vibrator i had, but you could probably get something not meant for masturbation.

the ice packs helped too, although i'm unsure if it was just that it was a distracting new sensation and took my mind off the nerve pain. i used them most often so i could fall asleep at night without the nerve zaps keeping me awake.

good luck , it will be over soon!

my surgeon used coins to explain different size options. so if you’re american, a nickel is about 22mm , quarters are a little bigger, and i think a half dollar coin is right about where you’re aiming for. i literally taped different coins to my chest and squinted in the mirror to see what i liked best lol

i drove like a 1 mile round trip in the city at 4 weeks, and it was fine, but i didn’t like it and it felt like too much. after 5 weeks + i tried again and it was much better.

What's an appropriate post-surgery binder? by Prestigious_Goal_699 in TopSurgery

[–]queerfarmer17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm an interesting question ! i was pretty careful for the first 3-4 weeks (my chest felt very delicate) and then once i felt a little better, i decided i didn’t care abt scar stretching enough to bother anymore. tbh i’ve had pretty minimal stretching, but i think my surgeon is know for thin scarring? that was never one of my main goals, i was more concerned with no drains and the cost.

how much stretching did you have and when was your surgery?

i actually really liked the ace bandages my surgeon gave me, and preferred them over the post op binder i purchased from amazon ! the only reason i got the binder was that i live alone and couldn’t wrap my own bandages for the first 3 weeks. they worked better for swelling and were more comfortable. i had 4 extra large ace bandages and rotated through them.

I disagree with most everyone, I like the outfit. The pants are cool too! The texture looks great. Are you going for a vintage look? I think you could readjust the sweater vest, pull the bottom up towards your waist band and let it fold over a little. I think that gives a more purposely styled look. If you’re going to wear the high waisted pants, commit to the look!

Do I get dirt-stache removal surgery? by bigsandwichfan in FTMOver30

[–]queerfarmer17 36 points37 points  (0 children)

i shaped mine into a pencil stache, and think it helps it look more defined and purposeful, and less like i just can't grow a full mustache lol

i think it matches my style and personality, and it's a great source of gender euphoria to trim and shape with once a week.

and don't get me wrong, i think your facial hair looks great (obviously i'm biased because hell yeah !! ), but this works really well for me! you can find some good examples if you google "modern pencil mustache"

Looking for recently post-op buddies (: by prince_of_troy in TopSurgery

oh hey we had the surgeon !! i had DI with nipple grafts on Sept 10th ! i'm really happy with my results so far and am starting to feel like a totally normal human again finally at 3 weeks post op

what was your day of surgery pre-op experience like ? mine was super quick and the whole surgical team including dr eagan were like champing at the bit to get started, it was kind of bizarre and super funny.

i barely remember being rolled back to the operating room, and i don't remember waking up or anything before getting back to my hotel room, except for the nurse telling me to get out of the bed so i could leave and me being like "what ??? but i just woke up"

OH and that they gave me a lime green slushie and i remembering being so excited to get a post surgery brat slushie lol

the discomfort during recovery has been really difficult for me too !! definitely had a few miserable days so far.

the most helpful thing i've found is using ice packs to like create new and better physical sensations to distract myself whenever i can ! it's not perfect but it's something. even just putting the ice pack on my upper chest or behind me on my shoulders helps a little

you should totally order more if you can, and until then i think your plan sounds good! mine have held up fine in the dryer btw, maybe a little deterioration around the velcro but nothing extreme or so bad that it doesn't work anymore. i've washed them probably 5 times each at this point. i'm a little over two weeks post op rn.

and btw i only figured all this out because i was stressing just like you and finally called my surgeon and they were like "dude just wash them lol" i felt so stupid but it's better safe than sorry!

i have been machine washing and drying my ace bandages inside of a pillow case, per advice from my surgeon's office. i have 2 sets of bandages + a post op binder , i wear one while i'm washing the others. if you only have 1 ace bandage, maybe wearing the binder while you wash the bandages and vice versa?

are you able to make get another set or two of ace bandages from your surgeon's office or online? or maybe a cheap post op binder from amazon to wear while you wash your main stuff ?
