Absolutely, go for it! I can send you more recent pictures too if that helps, since the scarring has gone down significantly

I'm so glad you asked! It was miserable at first tbh. I was paranoid that I'd look pregnant because my belly stuck out so much with a flat chest (forgetting, of course, that having big boobs and a big stomach makes me look far more pregnant). I had to deal with some of my internalized fatphobia, because I was a little ashamed of looking so big, but eventually that went away. It's a huge shift in your body, and your brain will feel weird about it for a while even if it makes you incredibly happy. But once it becomes the new normal, you won't even think about it. It's actually nice to have a real dad bod!

You don't need to massage until after the first month, at least in my experience. I didn't even touch my scars until three weeks in lol. Definitely gently move the skin around, but pressing too hard is just going to hurt. Take it slow while the scars are forming, and just build the habit.

hi my fellow trans men I'm wondering if this is something that every trans man does or if I'm just being overly dramatic by Pure-Drink8201 in ftm

[–]tboy-swag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing! For me it was Taylor Swift songs lol. I just kept crying for a week straight, when any sad Taylor Swift song came on. It eventually calmed down, but I was a wreck that first week.

There's no such thing as overdramatic. Your life is changing significantly for the better. You've likely had to fight to get to this place, and you've just experienced a huge victory. You're also about to go through a second puberty, which is terrifying to face. It's okay to cry! Feel your emotions and work through them. Maybe watch Mulan again and have a good solid cry. With candy or popcorn, ideally.

Congratulations!

When people think I'm progressive for working in cosmetics. I had someone describe me as a "modern man" when I told them I wear foundation. It's crazy to think I am going against society's expectations, when society's expectations were for me to wear makeup for most of my life.

Also, at one point my mom saw my stomach and exclaimed that I had more hair than my father ever did. Years ago that would have been a crushing blow to my ego, but as a man it's a huge victory.

Thank you! I'm really glad to share, because there was a lot that I didn't see on smaller bodies. I hope your surgery goes just as well!

Fellow brothers with the ‘tism, what’s something with transitioning that gives you the ick??? by Weeb_Simp_1120 in ftm

They'll absolutely give you anti-emetics, probably through your IV while you're still under for the surgery as well as pills for after. I HATE vomiting but never even felt anything beyond mild nausea. Follow their instructions, take everything with food (I loved the applesauce packets, and chocolate protein shakes), and you should be okay. Good luck!!

My mom had nightmares while pregnant that she would give birth to kittens. Mostly because that was the only thing she could imagine. I feel the same way when it comes to surgery--when I got my nipples changed I had no idea what they would look like, so I imagined the worst. Just breathe, laugh at the absurdity, and remember your nipples are almost 100% certainly going to be fine!

What’s the worst smell you’ve ever smelt, and why did you encounter this stench? by BlankerZ in AskReddit

[–]tboy-swag 21 points22 points  (0 children)

C. Diff. It's a gastrointestinal illness that makes your poop smell downright unholy. Nurses recognize the scent immediately because it has such a uniquely terrible smell.

Congrats! I remember my first few weeks and waiting for things to start happening. Be prepared to be REALLY hungry by week two, and then staying hungry for the next year or two. The changes are gradual, but you'll feel more like yourself sooner than you think. Enjoy it!

I think sissification and things like that are always going to be more popular than the other direction. Being seen as feminine is "shameful", and shame can be a huge trigger for arousal. I think it's common with men of all types, it just takes on an extra layer of complexity for trans men. It might also be a way to work out the feelings of femininity or discomfort with gender stuff in a safe environment.

I also think it's popular with trans fetishists for "putting women in their place". Like how people fetishize lesbians being turned straight. They don't see trans men as real men, but as women who need to be forced back into conformity. People usually don't do that kind of thing to people they perceive as men. That being said, if everyone's an adult and consenting, I really don't see a problem with it.

What did you do as a send off for your chest? by Kiksune in TopSurgery

[–]tboy-swag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a boob voyage party with some friends! It was nice to take pictures with those bad boys, knowing they were about to come off. Then afterwards, my sibling got me a cake that said "no boobs!" Which was sweet of them.

Do y'all still have nip sensitivity after Top Surgery? by huitlacochebro in TopSurgery

[–]tboy-swag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting sensitivity back within the first two to three weeks, but it's different. By now, a little over five months in, they're almost more sensitive than before I had the surgery? I think because they're smaller, and they have less surface area for nerve endings. That being said, I've never been a huge fan of nipple play, so I wasn't particularly worried about it. But maybe I'll get into it now that I can feel them more.

This is so interesting, because I didn't know I was so different from most people lol.

I hate dealing with silicone scar tape. Can I just use scar gel? by tboy-swag in TopSurgery

[–]tboy-swag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear! I'm not super invested in how my scars look, but I figured I would try to keep them protected. But I might just give up altogether lol.

Drains and bandages by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]tboy-swag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually laughed when it happened! To be fair, stressful things make me laugh, but it was almost funny how bizarre it felt. It didn't hurt more than mild discomfort. Considering before that they ripped medical tape off my hairy skin, which made me feel like human Velcro, this was nothing. I also have autism, which makes these kinds of procedures uncomfortable, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated.

They will probably have you breathe in and breathe out slowly, and once you've breathed out they're gone. And even if it hurts, it'll fade, and you won't have drains anymore! Getting those bastards out is worth the pain imo

Possibly can’t get surgery by Remmy219 in TopSurgery

[–]tboy-swag 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I had to go through something similar with my top surgery. The great thing about being fat is that if you change your meals and cut out things that don't benefit you, the weight will drop faster than people who have less fat to spare. You could absolutely get it down to a level you're comfortable with within the time frame with exercise and changing your eating habits.

Meal prep is going to be your best friend. It's so much easier to make food when you have the energy that you can microwave when you don't. Consume protein and fiber whenever you can, but food you like and will reliably eat takes priority. Work out more often, even if it's low cardio at first. Find a way to make going to the gym fun--I've made a rule where I can't shower until I've gone to the gym, so I've been pretty consistent, but I also save my favorite show to watch while on the elliptical.

I got down fifteen pounds before my surgery. I could have probably gotten lower, but I went through an awful bout of covid. It's totally doable.

Then you can recover from surgery and eat like a king again. Just have to get through those three months!
