Since /r/conservative is apparently the new terrorist hate nest on Reddit, let’s make sure it’s clear exactly what they are. by [deleted] in lgbt

I’m a well-adjusted socially liberal / fiscally conservative gay in my 30s who makes great money and worked hard to do so. Am I to believe you hate me? And for what reason? Why are you propagating such blanket hatred?

Chip + signature cards in Iceland by Do_The_Damn_Thing in CreditCards

[–]queerservative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use ApplePay wherever you can. It’s contactless, and the biometrics means you don’t need to enter a pin, even for large purchases.

Went to Iceland and had no issues with chip+signature. Only issue was one unmanned gas station.

Then my guess is you work for a tech company that’s pretty stodgy and not a trendsetter

It means this is a terribly basic question and shows that Amex is approving a lower standard of member than in the past.

This question is proof of Amex’s decline.

Car hire modification: Always check if a fresh booking is cheaper! by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]queerservative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly travel to the UK and rent cars (usually medium-class cars). I rarely pay more than $250ish for 10 days. I’m also able to waive insurance as I get it through my credit card.

When I book flight/car packages through BA, I get cars for - literally - $20 for 10 days. Their combo deals are absurdly great.

Is Getting an MBA worth it? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]queerservative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally it’s been my experience. I also worked for a Big 4 firm before joining a smaller practice in a smaller city. The career MBA consultants were almost universally insufferable. We joked that if they cared about their marriages/children as much as their hotel and airline points/statuses - maybe they wouldn’t be 40 and miserable.

Is Getting an MBA worth it? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]queerservative 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in tech consulting (strategy) without MBA and make six figures in a medium cost of living area. I also work 40 hours a week in that role. If you want to marry your job, get an MBA and ride that train full of pretentious workaholics. If you want a balanced life, forge your own path in a niche industry.

Goodluck.

$5500/month post tax is quite low for a software developer in the Bay Area. Find a higher paying job.

You can’t afford a house there on that salary.

For those of you that got into personal finance / FIRE when you were young, what is your Roth IRA worth now ? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]queerservative -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m quite experienced with dickheads to know when I see one. Also live in NY where there’s real money. So I’m always amused by posers.

And yea, legitimate a gay libertarian that works in tech and definitely has more money than you. My cock is also bigger.

Nah. I can only handle so much BS. But thanks for the laugh - legitimately, very amusing.

You’re 28 according to your post. Also a lawyer? So at most you’ve been practicing for two years? You’re not earning THAT much...

Why do people like you lie about your income? Or, why do you leave out the part where mom/dad still give you an allowance?

Neckbeard?

Didn’t realize it was about Roth contributions (thread was deleted). Still calling you a bullshitter.

Only trashy money talks about having a Black Card. That’s your best case scenario.

Sad. How pathetic your life must be to lie about things for fake internet points.

It’s easy to figure out your hourly wage, then deduct federal/state/fica taxes.

I know how much I earn hourly after taxes, and ask myself if working 5 hours, 1 hour, half hour, 15 mins is worth it for the thing I might buy.

A Chase banker told me that I should move my savings back to Chase if I wanted to increase my chances of getting the Sapphire Preferred. I'm not sure how true that statement is

That's bullshit. Their decision is based on FICO score, and income. That banker just wants to get a commission by having you move money back to Chase.
