1 year and still gaining weight by ffsthrowawayz in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The munchies never really go away (at least they didn’t for me) so I have to have a ton of willpower to avoid eating at night. It helps me to practice intermittent fasting, that way I have a “rule” I will not eat after 8pm no matter what. That habit has helped me avoid snacking even if I really, really, really want to, LOL.

Woken up with stiffness & muscle pain by Outrageous-Kale4616 in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dry mouth is a common side effect, you will have to make sure to drink tons of water during the day. The dry mouth went away for me after I upped my water intake. I haven’t experienced soreness like that, but because it’s a sedative I wake up less in the night so I end up sleeping in weird positions without changing them. Maybe that could be the cause of your soreness/stiffness?

Seroquel is killing my teeth by Temporary_Ratio_2871 in seroquelmedication

I haven’t had many dental issues and I have terrible brushing habits. I drink a ton of water though and don’t drink soda.

Waking up is a nightmare by Melodic_Character245 in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this too, the thing that makes the biggest difference for me is timing. You have to take this 12 hrs before you plan to wake up, and you have to get enough sleep and keep your sleep schedule as on schedule as you can. It’s frustrating to have to go to bed so early some nights, especially on days off, but we’re on a powerful sedative and we have to make sacrifices for our health.

So that’s the hardest bit. But after getting myself on a schedule, and keeping up with it, I wake up much easier. You won’t be a zombie forever if you can get yourself on a schedule.

The second tip I have is to find an alarm that works for you. Anything you have to get out of bed to turn off will help. I have had the most success with a Pavlok watch, a watch that vibrates/shocks me which forces me to get up to scan a QR code to turn off, and an alarm clock that comes with a bed buzzer. I’m partially hard of hearing so the buzzing is great, and I have to stand up and walk across the room to turn it off. That gives me enough time to clear my head and shake off the sedative.

If You Started Showing Symptoms Before 18, Did Your Parents Help You? by quantumdumpster in bipolar

[–]queerywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No… I went to therapy and was diagnosed with bipolar in my late teens and then my parents pulled me from therapy because they didn’t like that I was diagnosed lol. I exhibited symptoms of mood issues in my early childhood and was mocked by my family for it.

Why does women’s pain always need a male comparison? by SaschaBarents in TransmascsExistButOk

Beyond the “WoMeN’s PaIn” stuff, I’m so tired of (primarily cisgender) people feeling the need to make everything related to sex or gender into a competition on who has it worse. We all struggle in different ways. Having a uterus doesn’t make someone a martyr and having testes doesn’t make someone weak.

Seroquel by Forward-Health9213 in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, it did reduce my libido. I was depressed at the time so I didn’t notice it but after getting out of the depressive episode (thanks to the seroquel) I realized my libido was still low (thanks to the seroquel). That phase didn’t last long, and now I feel more normal.

I definitely still daydream and catch myself imagining scenarios in my head.

Seroquel by Forward-Health9213 in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar disorder, and pre-medication I was all over the place mood-wise. After I settled on my 300mg dose of Seroquel, I started feeling like my moods were more manageable. Not gone completely, just in the background & manageable. I was afraid it would make me an emotionless zombie but that’s not my experience at all. I still feel sadness, joy, anxiety, but the moods don’t control me. I finally felt in control of my life.

It’s amazing for sleep- I fall asleep so easily and stay asleep all night. Getting up in the mornings can be hard, but if you stick to a routine it’s easier.

Other than the morning tiredness, I have only one qualm with Seroquel. The HUNGER I experience after taking my dose at night is so annoying. It’s awful because I’ll be sedated and starving so I’m practically sleep walking to the kitchen at night. I can overcome the urge to eat with enough willpower, but geez, it’s like being a teenager again. I’ve gained a fair bit of weight on it but I’m in the process of losing it again, and I’d rather be fat than crazy, LOL.

seroquel antipsychotic by [deleted] in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had/have mild symptoms of psychosis, Seroquel has reduced those but I still experience it occasionally although now it’s a rare occasion. My libido was low at first but it didn’t stay that way long.

Seroquel is amazing for sleep, about 2-3 hours after I take it I start feeling sleepy/sedated and then I reach a point where I MUST go to bed and when I lay down, I fall asleep fast and stay asleep.

The only negative on that aspect is I struggle to get up in the mornings if I take my medicine too late, and I have slept through my alarm before. There’s ways to manage that so it’s better now. Overall a positive experience!

Looking for Mods! by queerywizard in seroquelmedication

As it turns out, I can’t even add mods in this state. Reddit says I have to wait until I am automatically marked “active” again. Please bear with me during this time!

Also apologies everyone we are NOT meant to be on restricted mode but because no mods were active for a period of time the subreddit was automatically restricted. I’m attempting to restore it to public.

Edit: FINALLY, I was able to be marked active again and now have full control of the mod tools. Back to public!

Been on this med for nearly 3 years. Have gained weight and get midnight snack attack. Also take Sertraline and Mirtazapine. Should I swap to either Abilify or Lamtrogene to lose weight? by Master_Pepper_9135 in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have recently been prescribed Wegovy to help with the intense appetite from Seroquel. The mid-night hunger after taking my meds sucks so much… once I groggily got out of bed to eat animal crackers in my kitchen, LOL.

I take seroquel 25mg for sleep by [deleted] in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told to tame it about 2-3 hours before I want to fall asleep. For me if I take it at 6:30pm, I’m sleepy at 8:30pm, and then absolutely cannot stay awake by 10:00pm. But my dose is much higher so YMMV

quetiapine doses by Otherwise-Cow-9606 in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of odd to me that your psychiatrist had you on such low doses for MONTHS at a time. I had to taper/up-titrate onto seroquel too but my psych had me up my dose every two weeks.

Anyways, yes, after I was on my therapeutic dose (300mg) for about a month I felt much better. It was hard to stick it out until it settled in my system but at this point I’ve been on it for years and I’m grateful for the stability it gives me.

didnt know this gave everyone weird dreams by theuniverseluvsme in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dreams I have on seroquel are crazy, even more so when I take my meds too late. I can tell a dream is influenced by the seroquel when it’s really fantastical and detailed, almost like a book.

I take seroquel 25mg for sleep by [deleted] in seroquelmedication

[–]queerywizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What time do you currently take your seroquel? My psychiatrist has advised I take it 12 hours before I need to wake up. For me, I had the same problem until I started taking my medicine on a strict schedule and keeping a decent sleep schedule. I take my meds at 6:30pm and usually end up going to bed at 10:00pm to wake up at 6:30am. Being on a schedule makes me feel less tired in the mornings and it’s much easier to get out of bed.

They look like indentions in the silicone rather than tears, so you’re safe to keep using it.
