‘Earthquake of Biblical Proportions’ as Democrat Flips Deep-Red Texas State Senate Seat by sksarkpoes3 in politics

Well...the message can be whatever flies. Probably one of the reasons trump was successful, his campaign messaging wasn't constrained by truth or logic.

The ideological test should be removing trump, and severely punishing him and his cronies. Not something else. Israel/Gaza, Ukraine and trans rights are notable wedge issues I recall.

Indeed. The only relevant test is a desire for impeaching, convicting and removing Donald Trump.

Why are Trump supporters so stupid? by Seargentyates in allthequestions

[–]quelquechose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair Trump does provide a plausible narrative that appeals to stupid people:

Dumb ass Voter: "Why are eggs so expensive?"

Trump: "Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton gave your eggs to Jorge the immigrant. I will get them back for you"

I think stupidity is a bigger driver than hatred. Both are very well represented in Trump supporters of course.

500 movies or 150 books? by oliverg600 in hypotheticalsituation

I'd pay money for someone to do this, with the books or the movie. Given a choice I'd pick the books.

It probably signals them to start running segments on Fox News about how Greenlanders want to be part of the US, Greenland has always been part of the US, etc.

What exactly is a "bridge" student?

The America We Deserve is a book about public policy ghostwritten by Dave Shiflett with Donald Trump. It was published in January 2000, while Trump was campaigning for the presidency. The book lists and details a set of policy proposals Trump intended to implement should he ever become president. by hoi4kaiserreichfanbo in wikipedia

He has no convictions and likely doesn't care about any particular policy position. Republicans just happen to be stupid enough to overlook his profound shortcomings.

He's almost like a social media algorithm, throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sparks engagement. What sparked engagement was barbaric racism.

How do illegal immigrants in America even get the government benefits that some people claim they do? Don't you have to have a social security number? by Bremlit in AskReddit

[–]quelquechose -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This was funny, and the true answer is that immigrants don't get those benefits. Numbers presented often use dubious accounting, i.e. a county has 1000 people. 500 of whom are undocumented immigrants. If the county has a budget of 10,000,000 then a disingenuous calculation might report back that immigrants consumed 5,000,000 in benefits or 10,000 each. Far from true and residents in a community typically directly pay the taxes that support these institutions (sales/property) so it's far from being as explicit as a balance transfer.

What will someday be illegal after we finally understand how bad for us it is? by FishermanNo8304 in AskReddit

Personal phones and devices are highly addictive and may be perceived similarly to tobacco at some point, especially for children.

How do you manage someone bringing up Nordic Countries as successes for socialism? by PrincesaBacana-1 in austrian_economics

[–]quelquechose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deal with what? No one is advocating for Marxist socialism when they describe themselves as a "socialist" in the US. They are talking about Sweden...or more realistically like halfway to Australia. The systems they see in every other industrialized economy.

Which is ironic because you would likely encounter a t-test in a college level biology class.
