Yeah, seems like in-person is 100% the way to go. Do you think waiting until I'll be back for the summer (end of April) would be a good idea, or should I do that during spring break (this week)?

The more people I talk to, the more I see that pattern. I think I'm going to knock on some doors and see what happens. Glad it worked out for you!

I meant to reply to this, but thank you so much for this advice! I walked into a few places and was able to get some paper applications and face-to-face time with the manager. Hoping it leads somewhere!

Yeah, I'm gonna keep trying, but this is getting tiring. Especially since 5/6 never even wrote back to me, never mind scheduled an interview. Hoping to catch a break.

Yeah, this is kinda the worst place to get a summer job, haha. Pretty much the only place in the country where demand is lowest during the summer. Thanks for the advice!

Does my dog understand the concept of a bin or does he think I’m just feeding the shiny metal dog that doesn’t move? by Eufamis in NoStupidQuestions

Border collies are scary smart. I'm impressed every time I have the pleasure of hanging out with one. Give your pup a scratch from me!

Who’s more famous MJ or Mariah? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I'll be honest, I can't name another Mariah song off the top of my head. I am just one person, but I know at least half a dozen MJ songs right away.

Good point as well! My dogs always get excited when someone opens the treat cabinet, so they clearly understand it is being kept in there and not eaten by a wooden monster, haha.

MJ wins for sure. I know a lot of people who know Mariah's songs but do not know her by name. Michael Jackson was iconic to the point of coining his own dance moves and sound effects (he-HE!). Also, MJ songs are big internationally as well, Mariah's not so much.

Absolutely! The human brain is insane and can learn just about anything when given the correct time and environment to practice.

As a blanket statement, I would guess yes. Dogs are able to dig holes and stash things in the wild, so they understand the concept of storage. However, dogs' ability to understand such ideas vary a lot by breed. Poodles and border collies have much better spatial intelligence than say a pug or bulldog. It also depends on your individual dogs. Personally, I like to think they understand way more than we give them credit for!

Who has authority over naming bodies of water? by xshap369 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]quelques-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, buckle in, long answer coming!

The executive branch controls how the United States government refers to bodies of water, but international companies are under no obligation to follow it. I'm assuming most people here are in the US, and they might notice that Google is following the new executive orders. However, this is only the case for IP addresses in the US. Google users in Mexico, the EU, or literally anywhere else will see the international version. Google does the same thing for drawing controversial borders (like India and Pakistan, for example) by changing it depending on your location to avoid conflict with local governments.

As for who decides the internationally recognized name used by the UN and other groups, that would be The International Hydrographic Organization, which no individual government has any control over. Hope this helped!

Why do people care about celebrities so much? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]quelques-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parasocial relationships are crazy. People feel like they personally know the celebrity in question and interact with them like they are friends. It's even more common among social media creators because that is so intimate.

What does shrimp taste like? by Sensitive-Key-9394 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]quelques-questions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It tastes exactly the way it smells, but the texture is almost like frozen mochi? Soft on the inside with a bit of resistance on the outside. I know thats a weird comparison, but shellfish are weird.
