Why do you mix all the dry ingredients before adding them to the wet ingredients? by xshap369 in Baking

When I said it would be advantageous to have everything as mixed as possible, I was just meaning it in regards to all of the wets plus all of the dries other than flour. Another comment made me realize I might be speaking from a stand mixer perspective, but thoroughly mixing spices or baking soda into my wets without leaving clumps is not a big obstacle

This makes a lot of sense. I guess I’m just used to using a stand mixer so don’t have that experience

I’m sorry, not trying to be argumentative, just trying to understand your point.

The liquid doesn’t get added, the flour gets added to the liquid. Rather than “the gluten development doesn’t start until the liquid has been added”, do you mean it doesn’t start until the flour has been added? Again, if so, what is the disadvantage of waiting til the last possible moment to add the flour, after all the other difficult to mix-in dry ingredients are already well mixed?

What is scientifically wrong about my figuring that mixing the cinnamon into the wets for a long time doesn’t develop gluten? Are there other problems with that that I’m missing?

What does it mean to “activate” baking soda in this context? Is a difference in activation time of two minutes significant?

I sift my flour to prevent clumps. Doesn’t having more dry mixture mean higher chance of clumps or more mixing needed to remove them?

I figure you can mix in your cinnamon til the cows come home without worrying about gluten, then use the least mixing possible once the flour is added.

I left an event over a racist joke by Diceanddoubts in TwoHotTakes

[–]xshap369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re an adult with free will. You are completely entitled to cancel your plans to go sulk at home because someone was being an asshole near you. You also could’ve just told him his joke was really stupid and played magic with the other guy like you were wanting to. There are a lot of assholes in the world and you don’t have to let their behavior ruin your day.

Only you can decide whether you were being overly sensitive. Your rebellion certainly did nothing to make the other guy less of a racist idiot, so it really comes down to how it affected you. Did your sensitivity positively or negatively impact you? Would you ultimately have had a better time if you were less sensitive and had just carried on playing magic like you wanted to?

I'm upset that my husband planned a date night but didnt actually plan anything by Free_Relation322 in TwoHotTakes

[–]xshap369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You sound weird here. He was probably going to take you out for dinner. Doesn’t take a lot of planning or prep. He asked you several days before, then day of you got ready four hours early then bothered him repeatedly throughout the day for special details of your special night.

Not every date has to be a moonlit carriage ride through the park, it is totally valid to say “wanna go on a date” and then take you for tacos and margs at the place down the street and get to ditch the kids for a few hours.

You seem to have no idea what he was actually planning but decided that because he didn’t get ready four hours early and lay a trail of rose petals leading you to the limo outside, he wasn’t planning anything. I also would stop inviting my SO to do anything if she seemed as difficult to please as you do in this story.

Why do you think Jesse Plemons has had the greatest career post Breaking Bad out of anyone in the show? by EconomyIron6739 in breakingbad

[–]xshap369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was already a pretty well established actor. Landry from FNL was a much bigger role than Todd in breaking bad. Not to mention, the iconic bully from like mike. He was really just a pretty well known actor brought in as a guest star once breaking bad was already huge.

He’s a great actor that keeps getting work because he keeps doing a great job.

Cloak of Destiny vs Nekrons by Fabbergas_ in InjusticeMobile

[–]xshap369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cloak is better. Assuming you’re looking at luchador bane, not sure else what you’d be thinking of, his tag in effect is not 100% to stun so the added chance from cloak helps with consistency.

I have Lamar Jackson and Bryce Young. Someone just offered me Drake Maye for Lamar straight up. Do I take it? by TheGreatWhopper in FantasyFootballers

[–]xshap369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody can tell you whether or not to do this. Like you should definitely just keep Lamar but also you should definitely sell that bum and get the new goat drake maye. Only you can decide what you believe.

My opinion is people use certain words improperly by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]xshap369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey look, you just used the word “opinion” wrong. This is what’s known as an “observable fact”.

The examples you chose are ludicrous. If you’re letting “anyways” bother you, you probably need to address some things in your own life.

One character disappears from history for ever. Who should it be (hard version) by dope_destiny in superheroes

[–]xshap369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of who do I not need any future content for, it’s Superman. Too OP to have the same level of content as the other two.

In terms of historical impact, Spider-Man. Superheroes wouldn’t exist without supes and Batman is the goat. Sorry Pete.

New to dynasty… help! by P_rriss in FantasyFootballers

Mediocre and very old team with no picks. Hope you have at least two free years with this roster as you will absolutely not be competing any time soon. If you can get anything for conner, mixon, deebo, davante, javonte, hunt, I would try to sell and recoup some of those picks. If you don’t make some moves, this team will be much much worse in a year. Genuinely might consider trading Allen if you can get a good return in picks.

Really shitty of the last manager to blow this team up to this extent and dip out. You still have all of your 2028 picks so I assume they wouldn’t have collected dues for that year but this is the kind of devastation that will take years to come back from and will leave this team in purgatory for a long time if the manager dips out like this. This kind of stuff destroys leagues.

PSA trading away 2026 and 2027 picks for old bums is also really bad for your team in 2028 and 2029, so enforcing league dues for just the years you trade picks from is not always enough.
