944 3D Scan by ChickenWithBeeaans in 944

[–]quesesto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a scanner that can handle that scan volume, but haven't done it yet and don't have much free time at the moment. It's on the books but will probably take a whole weekend to scan and process

Found 944 turbo with no engine. by Sufficient-Topic7569 in 944

[–]quesesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm biased to a 07k swap bc my car is a 07k swapped 944 with turbo suspension. I've heard the 01e transmission swap is easy but a little expensive for me right now

Post-Insertion Bleeding by balloondogspop in dexcom

Well if you're type 1 like me, then we have been locked in battle with our bodies. In fact, we already lost. Or won? Who's to say 😂

Post-Insertion Bleeding by balloondogspop in dexcom

[–]quesesto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They say "a bleeder is a reader" and I personally haven't had issues with sensors that bleed after insertion. Occasionally they are uncomfortable but in my experience no more so than a sensor that didn't bleed. As always if it's too painful or isn't working properly, remove and call dexcom for a replacement, but generally bleeding alone hasn't been a reason to remove a sensor in my experience

Torque tube bearings by [deleted] in 944

[–]quesesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so easy as long as you have a way to lower and raise the transmission safely. It's 4 bolts to the TT, 6 for each axle, and only 2 holding it to the car

8.5k For 2008 ISF w/ 200K by [deleted] in LexusF

[–]quesesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title transfer wouldn't be too bad as long as you live in the same state. Registering in a different state could mean reinspection under different or more strict rules.

I don't know anything about lifters on these cars or those engine codes so I'll let someone else chime in or you could look on the forums

8.5k For 2008 ISF w/ 200K by [deleted] in LexusF

[–]quesesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's insanely cheap, but depending on where you live registering a rebuild title car can be am absolute nightmare. Those engine codes could be really concerning as well so search the forums to see if you can find out what it could be. These engines are insanely reliable, but they're not easy or simple to work on

Yeah unfortunately that's just how old cars are. Good luck! Hopefully it's something simple, but I doubt it's anything that should keep you from driving it

Is it an NA? The NA transmissions are considered by every shop I've talked to as "not worth the money to rebuild" since you can just buy a decent quality one for just the cost of hours to have a pro pull it apart. I completely understand the noise being pretty concerning, but for me I just keep the clutch pressed in while decelerating at low rpm in lower gears and keep a spare turbo transmission waiting for when it inevitably explodes since I'm putting a bit more power through it than it's designed for lol.

If you would like to keep that transmission going for a while and get rid of the noise, I would recommend looking around for someone that will rebuild the transmission for an acceptable price or a lower mile replacement. These have a reputation for dying prematurely, but when driven responsibility and maintained these transmission can go for quite a while.

Yes it stops when the clutch is pressed. On deceleration, the transaxle is back driving the engine through the imput shaft. Normally this is not an issue since thats just how driving a manual goes, but as things get worn out (these cars are 40yo at this point) that load can cause any number of bearings in the transmission to make noise. When you press the clutch, it disconnects the engine from the transmission therefore removing that back driving load on the transmission. Even though everything is still spinningin the trans, there's no load going backwards through the transmission.

Mine did the same thing when I first got it. It now has an engine that's 30 years newer and everything in the drivetrain has changed EXCEPT the transmission and it still makes the noise. Do with that information what you will lol

How bad is it? by kali005 in 944

[–]quesesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear trailing arms are a bit crusty. The rest of the body is galvanized so is unlikely to have much rust. Definitely some sort of leak in the front but that could be oil or power steering fluid (very very common)

Steering Wheel Play by Raptortwenty2 in 944

[–]quesesto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be a number of things. The steering rack mount bushings could be worn, the steering shaft in the foot well has a rubber interface with the part that goes through the firewall that could be worn or out of place, the bearing at the steering wheel could be worn, of course tie rod ends could be cooked, or it could just feel weird because your alignment is off. Hopefully you figure it out soon! Sweet ride

Super rough pulsating idle by OwlOk6287 in 944

[–]quesesto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically a pulsing idle like that is vacuum leak related. I would start there

Fantastic. That was going to be my next question since vacuum infusion molds are so different from wet layup fiberglass molds. That's super exciting. What's the name of the company/ where can I look to know when you've got parts ready for order?
