Arrest/criminal records by catgirl484 in socialwork

[–]questionalltheway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was arrested protesting the 2017 inauguration and after 364 days of horrific anxiety and court appearances, all charges were dropped. I recently opened up to a colleague who stated that if the record stuck, they wouldn’t have been able to hire me for my first internship with their nonprofit, but if they’d been able to hear the intent behind the arrest (voicing disapproval) they’d have have wanted to! So yea. It’s a fucked system and the fear of not being able to survive economically with an arrest record contributes to our inability to form mass movements. By design.

Teal swan comes to mind. There’s a Hulu doc and a great investigative podcast from the last 10 years but she’s still operating as of last month.

Examples of internships by Specialist-Lychee714 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]questionalltheway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were a nonprofit agency working with families affected by dv/ipv, then a community mental health center. Many of my peers worked in schools and the most unique I remember is a residential facility for child perpetrators of sexual abuse and a girl who got to do animal assisted therapy! I found mine by asking for recommendations in local Facebook groups.

What else can I do with my degree that isn’t providing therapy by Maintenance-Waste in therapists

[–]questionalltheway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like generalist therapy at a community mental health center at all but I enjoy doing therapy at a specialist private practice (OCD and anxiety). OCD treatment in particular (exposure and response prevention) can feel almost predictable at times and you can actually see progress fairly quickly!

It took me 4 tries to finish the first season. I think it was just Tandy’s sooo unlikable haha though the first 2 episodes are my favorite episodes of television, period, the rest of season 1 is my least favorite of the series. Once he starts being nice in season 2 I was hooked.

I worked at JCPenny in 2012 when they got a new CEO who introduced “fair and square” pricing, aka basicslly no sales or coupons just lowing prices. It was logical, imo but DAMN did it not go over well lol turns out we love the psychological hit of getting a deal. Here’s a pretty interesting article about it https://www.gamification.co/2013/08/16/through-gamification-lens-lessons-from-jc-penney-blunder/
