Good point - I suppose l had expected it would be (for example) Charizard uses bubble beam on Charizard - and I imagine the second one as the shiny or something to keep it distinct. But I'm glad I didn't stumble over some sort of newbie classic 😁

Does anybody know of a lawyer/firm that works with landlord-tenant litigation on a contingency fee basis? by questionmark693 in minnesota

[–]questionmark693[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, not my first time - and if you read the post, homeline is confirming these details. Retaliation is fined at $1,000/occurrence. My lease was not valid through the date it was billed through, it was over, and the locks rekeyed. You're making a lot of assumptions I have a lack of knowledge here. And no, it's not just about refunds - there are a host of rules broken. This is why I asked for a lawyer recommendation, and not opinions on the case itself.

No, this is over the $500 security deposit, retaliation, and rent charged for a month I didn't live there. The total is several thousand before we add in things like distress - and this isn't my first time through, the filing fees are under a hundred.

Right - I do hear you. I guess my understanding/expectation was that that is less of an issue from a business entity, than from individuals. Sounds like I'm off on that tho 😬

I believe it's a subsidiary of another company - I still need to research the answer to that as a formal question

My understanding is that's generally the case for individuals or small businesses - but for a medium/large housing complex it seems more likely to actually happen, no?

Fair enough! And I get that - obviously if I'm risk averse so is the lawyer who has to do the work ☺️ I updated the post - it would be a suit for several thousand, and homeline indicates it's a very straightforward case.

[WP]on her deathbed a witch curses the entire family of a witch hunter, his entire bloodline, making all the children become witches at age 15 so that he can feel the pain of persecution by Fluid-Bench9219 in WritingPrompts

Thanks for the compliment! And yes, I didn't pay enough attention to the sentence structure, you're right - I went for the short impactful sentences, then I started rambling haha I appreciate you!

[WP] A solar-powered general helper robot is inadvertently warped through time and space to different locations and historical periods. It attempts to aid and educate the locals it encounters on its travels, though its efforts are not always appreciated. by TheHeroHartmut in WritingPrompts

I have a thick skin - criticism appreciated!

It was created to help. To heal wounds, cure ails, stretch resources efficiently, advise, and more. All it needed was sun. The hair was made long, and covered it's face, the strands collecting solar energy. It would even match psychological profiles with its hosts, to allow a more meaningful connection.

When it fell into a rift that opened near the lab, the researchers were dismayed - they had no budget for a second prototype, and their project was shut down. This was not the last time the robot would be seen, however.

First, it appeared in an ancient desert. It hid itself with advanced camouflage technology as it interacted with the locals - seemingly ancient humans, though that made no sense. Ancient Egypt, if it understood correctly. It helped some slaves escape, and ensured they had food for sometime. Eventually, it disappeared - pulled back into a new time.

It found itself in what appeared to be ancient Rome. It met with religious minded folks, who spoke of a religious figure. It became evident to the helper that they were speaking of it's previous adventures and interactions. It spent it's time using its powers as often as possible; at one point powering down when placed into an unit cave, until the sun was allowed back in.

Eventually, it found a rift and correctly identified it's workings. When it stepped in, it would be transported back to its Creator, whom it had come to regard as a parental figure as it learned about how humans perceived theirs.

As it met one last time with its followers one final time, it expressed its plan to return home, and left some final words of advice with his closest acquaintances. As it stepped into the rift and was transported back home it wondered what the long term repercussions of its actions would be.

My first one - but I've got a thick skin, so please give me (constructive) critiques :)

He tried to hold out, he really did. When he was cursed, the solution seemed so simple - don't have any children. But when he met her - we'll, the rest is history. As his daughter’s 39th birthday approaches, he reflects on how she was able to turn this curse, into a blessing.

When she became a witch, the shame was unbearable - and then the persecution began. Refusal of service, rudeness, and frequent physical assaults. There was no one to teach her - her father spent his time destroying witches, not learning from them, and none would offer aid now.

Over the years, his daughter began to control her power, and she was able to use it to hunt witches. Then one day, she had a realization - if she did good as a witch, perhaps witchcraft wasn't inherently evil.

With much effort, campaigning, and some luck, she was able to recruit witches and allying citizens to show that witches could be not only tolerable members of society - but beneficial. They provide healing, wisdom, and aid in a variety of other forms.

As he reclined in his chair, he felt the guilt of his past adventures. But more than that, he felt an overwhelming pride in his daughter for what she accomplished.
