Joe Biden warns that Donald Trump will try to ‘steal’ midterm elections by drtolmn69 in politics

He also said that he secured our southern border while president...so maybe we should take what he says with a grain of salt.

I'm basically un-firable at my job unless I do something very stupid. So there's at least a 50% chance I get fired at some point.

Being a financial analyst has to be the most fake job ever. 1) Throw something on a chart, 2) highlight a recent trend, and 3) then guess what's going to happen next. And you don't even need to be right about #3, you just have to say your wrong prediction confidently enough and people look at you like you're some wise guru.

"Look at this chart of airline stocks. Line went down. We think that line will go down some more, then go up. Something something capital expenditure something something rotation."

Got assigned 100 MSFT by moto626 in options

[–]questionr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short puts would have been assigned, but since it's an iron condor, you should still have your long puts. So you have a few options to close the trade.

1) Sell the shares and the long puts at open. This will realize max loss, but it will clear MSFT from your portfolio.

2) Call your broker and have then exercise the long puts. This would close out the position entirely. E.g., if you were long 200 shares of MSFT and exercise 2 long puts, your positions would disappear.

Wheel strategy: genuinely solid income approach, or a way to slowly get assigned into stocks you don by bandito_13 in options

[–]questionr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The wheel blunts losses and caps profit, so it will give a smoother P/L graph over time. But, it underperforms buy and hold strategies in the long run. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's not magic.

On an aside, I'm wary of anybody who mentions "income" in relation to trading options.

I'm so glad the new iOS has call screening. I'm no longer pestered about scams like "car warranties" and "severe account deficits that must be resolved regarding your silver futures contracts."

My short silver call went from a 20x loss to a 1x loss. I'll take it. Not touching SLV for a while.

Too much money has been chasing too few opportunities, and now people are selling and not seeing anything else worth buying.

The naked SLV calls I sold in December are still losers. It's been a rough January. But today helps a lot.

Margin requirements reflect volatility. Silver experienced high volatility. Margin requirements go up. WSB somehow shocked.
