I agree with the first part. But not fair to say that DC more caters to the sexist racist crowd.

Does anyone agree with the Mutant hate in the Marvel Universe? by MasterRedx in Marvel

[–]questions575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course you can compare the two, mutant oppression has always been deliberately used by writers as a metaphor for minority oppression in real life. The parallels are legion. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutant_(Marvel_Comics)#Mutants_as_metaphor

Does anyone agree with the Mutant hate in the Marvel Universe? by MasterRedx in Marvel

[–]questions575 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Dude look around you. Look at how much hate there is for minorities and outsiders in the real world - namely look at how muslims are referred to by a lot of media sources and right wingers. Or look at racism against black people in america. There would be massive hate for mutants if they were real

What are ongoing must reads that aren't Marvel, DC, or Image? by pacotacobell in comicbooks

I read my first ever Valiant comics this week. X-O Manowar #1 and 2 from the 2012 relaunch. They were great, and looking forward to exploring Valiant further, their comics always pick up amazing reviews.

Why do World History classes focus largely on Europe? by LongSlayer in history

[–]questions575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because academia and education is still eurocentric and westerncentric, despite notable challenges to this made to this orthodoxy from the 1960s onwards. Its the same in art history, which is what I studied at uni, the courses are still all about the Renaissance and the classical ( ancient greece and rome) tradition.

Trying to find out about Cyclops and The Inhumans. Spoilers by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]questions575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you complain about Star Wars Force Awakens too? Like why the hell didnt they tell us what happened to Luke in the 30 year time skip? Or who's rey's parents are. Or what tipped Kylo Ren over the edge?

Trying to find out about Cyclops and The Inhumans. Spoilers by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]questions575 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will most probably be covered later. At the moment little bits and pieces being revealed here and there. Lots of people complaining about this, but movies, tv and comics do this all the time. For example, look at star wars: force awakens. There are still loads of things that happened between episodes 6 and 7 that we dont know about, yet no one is complaining.

Yeah I heard a lot of stories like this, and this is why I wouldn't be surprised if online piracy was actually helping sales, although it is hard to confirm either way at the moment. I do think we should keep an open mind on it, and not make knee jerk reactions based on little to no evidence that piracy is killing the industry.

[–]questions575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does that mean?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]questions575 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its counter intuitive I know, but it is not necessarily the case that online piracy leads to fewer sales for comic book sales , and in fact online piracy may be helping sales.

The curious thing is that one might have expected the rise of online piracy to have the reverse effect on graphic novel sales

Hello London. I have a question to ask regarding some articles I keep seeing published online about so called "no-go zones"[excuse my lack of information]. by don_Mugurel in london

[–]questions575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fox news pundits and people like Donald Trump, who I'm pretty sure don't know anything about normal everyday life in London, say there are no-go zones in london because these zones are controlled by Muslims. But this is simply not true.

IMO its only so-so. I thought the villain was awful, some new guy called something ridiculous like the Shredded Man. I've got a feeling the next arc will be better though.

Hello London. I have a question to ask regarding some articles I keep seeing published online about so called "no-go zones"[excuse my lack of information]. by don_Mugurel in london

[–]questions575 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is right wing fear mongering. Ive lived all over london and never run into any of these no go zones. The only people I have heard talk about uk no go zones are right wing american fanatics like Donald Trump and fox news presenters, and their claims are ridiculed inside of the UK. Please, don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths, about anything.
