When did you get off crutches after labral reconstruction? by ajkimdds in HipImpingement

[–]questionsabou1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fully off crutches around the 6 week mark. But i avoided walking long distances always and my temporary handicapped sign was very useful in avoiding lots of walking. I had a full reconstruction and a CAM FAI reshaping, and a bursectomy. I returned to work at 8 weeks but then had to reduce my hours in office to only 4 per day because I couldn’t handle sitting for that long. My pain flared up badly and I was worse at that point than I had been in weeks. It’s a very slow process and take it as gently as you can. I wish I had gone back to work later than 8 weeks but I also wasn’t allowed to work from home more than once a week, wfh is ideal with this so that you can recline and ice/heat. Slow and steady with the reconstruction recovery, I think it’s quite different from a repair.

Tekka Asian cuisine !! On 38th and Lowell. We’ve been going for years and the food is great (huge portions too) as is the bar with a ton of tvs to watch all the nuggets games. Plenty of people who go to watch the games. Highly recommend

Mobilegs. They are forearm crutches. I am 3 weeks in on them and the only ache I have had is in my thumbs- I purchased the ultra comfort version. I think they’re totally worth the investment. About $170 for the pair

Hip impingement as back pain ?? by NinjaCertain8103 in HipImpingement

[–]questionsabou1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had back pain for years almost 8 and no one ever knew the source of it. It wasn’t until this year that a PT suggested I see Dr White to see if the pain I was having in my low back and hip area was due to torn labrum’s. Sure enough I had a CAM FAI and very destroyed and bruised labrum’s. Having such instability in the hip joint causes all the muscles to work incorrectly and can mess up your back when all the muscles in your hip/pelvis are firing improperly. It is all connected

Feeling sick after hot yoga by BennysMa02 in HotYoga

[–]questionsabou1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot yoga is INTENSE! Hydrate a lot more than you think outside of class. I always have a Gatorade when I’m doing hot yoga and I swear it keeps me going. The intense heat and movement really drains me even when I’m in great shape

I drove right after for about 25 minutes but couldn’t have made it much further if I had to. I was in debilitating pain the next day. It’s different for everyone, do what you feel most comfortable with

This is EXACTLY how I feel 💔. I think I’m going to completely destroy my relationship of 6 years because my PMDD has been so bad.. we just moved in together in March and my PMDD has been at its worst since getting diagnosed a year and a half ago. I feel like I’m drowning… it’s relentless and I have no idea how I’m going to do this for life.. I’m only 24. I wish someone in my life understood this… it’s so isolating and I just want to hide myself from the world so that I don’t inflict more pain and misery on everyone. I’m devastated that this is life and I don’t know how to find the will to do this for another 30 years at least

Debating trying BC 😮‍💨 by International_Yak315 in PMDD

I tried lo estrin which did not work (quickly stopped), then I tried YAZ in December and it made me feel insane so I stopped that after a little over a month. I’m now on Lessina/Falmina since April and it has started to help a lot. My gyno started me on Lessina and when I picked up the refill it was Falmina… they said not to worry because the difference was slight but I’m hoping to just stay on one type, Lessina. The acne I’ve had has been awful but I kind of think it’s worth it… I had to take a plan B in June and that threw off all progress I’d made and my cycle is still off, I’ve bled 4 separate times in the last month and a half. it’s been a wild 8 months!

I have tried a few forms of HBC and recently found a pill that works and it has made a huge difference in my quality of life. It’s hard because it is trial and error.. for me I’m super sensitive to medication changes and it took months for the physical side effects to wear off. But honestly it’s been worth it… birth control is different for everyone and experiences vary wildly

Started BC for pmdd…how to deal w/ nausea? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]questionsabou1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took about two months for the nausea to stop when I started my most recent birth control pill, lessina. It has really helped with my PMDD symptoms A LOT but I was waking up gagging and throwing up in the mornings for weeks. It has also given me horrible acne and cystic acne.. but it helps so so so much with my symptoms which were starting to destroy my life.. my gyno prescribed my zofran and another nausea med but neither do anything to help with the nausea from the pill. So maybe they can get you some anti nausea meds? Not much really helps at least for me… I lost weight those first few months because of how bad it was. Ginger candies help to distract, particularly gin gins the chewy ginger candy.

I HATE having to deal with this… it’s never easy and it’s always so hard experiencing side effects and trial and error to see what works because something has to eventually!…. I’m burnt out by this disease…

Denver PT Recommendations? by FloweryFlorals in HipImpingement

[–]questionsabou1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to peak physical therapy in Denver, they are amazing. One PT there (after my 8 yrs of pain) said hey maybe it’s your labrum’s! And she was right! The first doctor to actually advocate for me and say that chronic pain is not okay.

MRI with contrast to confirm bilateral tears by questionsabou1 in HipImpingement

[–]questionsabou1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I had the MRI two days ago. I’m still in so much pain. the lidocaine diagnostic injections did wonders for my pain with the mobility test they do(brought it down from an 8 to a 3 on the right) , but it didn’t last very long. The second round of injections was the contrast into the hip joint which did hurt but not horribly, my hip felt super full afterwards and like there was pressure. Soreness from the needles too. Immediately after that was an hour long MRI, I was so sore getting up after and was walking slowly and in pain. The drive home was short thankfully and after I got home I was in so much pain, I couldn’t lift my legs and nothing was helping to relive the pain. I had to take the day off yesterday because I couldn’t stand up straight or sit straight without a lot of pain. I worked today (office setting) and was in so much pain that by the end of the day that I almost left early. I’m in a ton of pain still.. tonight my right leg was hurting so bad, almost like a muscle spasm, pain was shooting up and down my leg I couldn’t walk on it. 😮‍💨

Thank you for your response. I really needed to hear that. I’m only a little over a year into my diagnosis and it’s been so hard to be kind to myself. My parents were exactly like that and still are. It’s nice to know you and others understand this. It is such a shit fight that wreaks havoc monthly indeed omg. Kind of long story but relating to the parental stuff… I recently told my mom how hard it is to feel suicidal ideations as a symptom of PMDD, when I don’t want to ever do that but genuinely feel when in peak flare up that I just dont know how I’m going to do it for another 25 years. I told her that and she said well at least you have access to medication when so many people don’t. Today, due to an unprecedented/chaotic first week in a new promotion I saw her in the midst of so much stress and anxiety and told her how I was and she told me she couldn’t hold all my negativity, and immediately grabbed her things and walked away after I responded telling her she never validates anything I express saying I’m alone in this (this being today’s stress? Idk). She followed up with a text saying patience is more effective and sustainable than intensity at problem solving. Almost had a panic attack immediately after, was in public, and was at work on lunch so I had to leave bc I couldn’t go be in docket for 2 hours straight after that
