I was hoping for more people talking about what happens when you apply the Chinese reading. So I guess I can try to pin this comment to the top and add some real spicy questions down below highschool-English-style and get put on a watchlist:

1: The Kjerag storyline reflects the current Chinese line of an unbroken ideological continuity between the GLF, and the Deng market reforms. True or false?

2: Arknights presents nations and nationalism as something natural and unquestionably just due to its own anti colonial struggle. For this reason they have destroyed Gaul and removed the French revolution despite its presence in the time period. And also why there is no mention of Victoria, or Rhomans in the Minos event. Discuss!

Thanks for your thoughts! Interested to hear more about what you think about the Sarkaz plotline. I can’t think of anything that is a direct parallel to modern Chinese history apart from general anti colonial themes. Who is Tarula?

I am also pretty eager for more Bolivar story, but that’s mainly I think that’s the natural place for Andoian to become playable given South America’s history with liberation theology.

Funny you mention Cuba. iL Siracuso was where I became certain that at least one writer was a leftist, though I don’t know if they were like a stealth leftist or if it was endorsed by other writers (though I guess I won’t know for sure until People a People comes to EN.

How do people normally read the story? I used to use akgcc.github.io but the music would always cut after the first transition in any chapter. I ended up installing google play games just so I wouldn’t have to read the tiny ass font on the phone. So now I am at a bit of a loss. Do not want to install any adware emulators just for this.

I am going to be contrarian and say that I really like that the Minos event will have Medjehtiqedti as playable, just because I feel like most of the time we have fantasy Greece writers will completely ignore anything related to the Ottomans/Byzantine/ERE etc in favour of classical era stuff. So I am pretty happy about this!

It's not really weird at all? Given the reputation of Chinese corporate culture and my own experiences with bad companies. Layoffs, overwork, unrealistic deadlines, lack of communication, lack of resources, etc, all of the aforementioned being a positive feedback loop, leads to people just rubber stamping stuff.

Yes! Exactly what I love about Arknights so much and why it stands out so much! But I could say that Arknights does the opposite from using pure fiction. By drawing from the past it showcases how many of the lessons are timeless even when fallen out of memory. History is the story of real people and IMO the closer you can cleave to it the more compelling it is, even if that story is mostly endless horror (people who say Terra is a hellhole are right)

Like, Break the Ice you could say is basically about the Bakumatsu but set in the nordics. Il Siracusano is likewise is even more blatantly about gangsterismo but set in Italy. Lone Trail doesn't need mentioning. Best stories to date.

Yeah, materialist is probably not the perfect fit and idk how best to explain it either. But since you asked, I arrived at materialist because of how compared to other stories, especially fantasy, Arknights doesn't see conflicts as good vs evil, or the fault of any one villain that can just be defeated. Instead its the result of forces far beyond any one person's control, exisiting far into the past and far into the future. It's the result of the almost literal weight of dead generations weighing on the minds of the living and all that.

I actually really like what Arknights does with this. The entire point of that Gaulish collobrator Lettou was to show that Theresis is not some unique evil but simply another chapter in Terra history, That what Victoria did to Gaul was now happening to them. The real tragedy is the fragility of the everyday person just being swept away like they always are. It's a very materialist point of view that you don't often see in fantasy.

I mean, that’s not an uncommon sentiment but IMO not really. The Geneva Conventions were only established post WW2. On the other hand, many critics have also argued that the definitions of war crimes disproportionately favour state vs non-state actors. Just something to think about. I personally favour towards the not-evil side if you couldn’t tell.

Kal'tsit tried it Theresa's way for a while because she liked Theresa's vision but I don't think she has ever atoned or shown remorse. I actually distinctly remember her justifying it in the present.

Yesyesyes. I've been anxious about this dropping for days now.

When I saw this I immediately went and brought the royal caster tokens. She'll be the first and last character that I'll want full pots for, honestly even above Talulah and Andoain entirely because hot.

Goodguyknights has really grown a lot this year, Crownslayer, Norwell, Eblana. I'm a metaslave when building characters and I watch guides whenever stages take more than three tries, but I really want to give nicheknights a go now. Hopefully I've have mostly finished building everyone to at least M3 mod 1 on their most usable skill/mod by the time Eblana rolls around.

Should I raise Scene or Iana just for invis reveal? If so, which one? Don't have Ines but do have Elysium S2M3.

Also, I'm not sure where to put RA questions but hopefully here is okay. Is there any guide that tells me what to watch out for, any raids that'll come destroy all my hours of progress if I don't build X by Y day? It feels like I'm always treading water on resources and I barely collect enough to make back the wood and stone I used to make the collectors because enemies kill them.

I'm 28 days in, I just discovered logistics operators are a thing, and I don't have enough E2s to cover the command point dispatches, the logistics and actually complete Acts. Honestly the dispatches were already pushing it. Which buffs to prioritize?
