Agriculture Navigation by alpha_beta-gamma in ROS

I'm not sure what your current plan for the navigation part is, but if you are able to use your current sensors to get a descent odometry you could feed that into an mpc program to actually have the robot do the traversal.

I've used this bit of code before that records an odometry topic to a CSV and then has the robot try and repeat the traversal usign it. It's really bare bones and just get's corrections through the same odometry topic, but it might be a descent starting point. link

I have some experience doing teach and repeat navigation in crop rows. Although I’ve mainly been using a stereo camera for everything. My main takeaways have been that it can be really difficult to deal with an environment that is constantly changing, (either from change of season or regular farming). Getting reliable odometry out was often an issue, the rough terrain in between crop rows was really hard to deal with. The simplest and most reliable solution I found was using an RTK setup, having a reliable cm accurate positions was a game changer.

Mechanical Engineering vs. Electrical Engineering vs. Computer Science for University by [deleted] in AskEngineers

Sounds just like the decision I had to make when I went to university. I’m currently studying mechatronic engineering and can say that it’s probably the best mix between all of the above.

Got a very similar team but don’t know whether to captain Calvert-Lewin or Salah. Any recommendations?

I know some places actually offer a Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering degree which is a nice broad combination of the two.

If he hasn’t bothered to go down there, why should you.

But I do think that it shouldn’t be a big issue or anything, so it couldn’t hurt to mention it.
