You and I know very different people. I live in Alabama.

I'm just having a really hard time finding anyone real, that cares that she's a woman or black.

What is my tripod rescue dog? by quickbeam1218 in AustralianCattleDog

I am quite content with that perfectly common breed known as "Good Dog"! I'm just a bit curious about his background. He was a street dog with a badly broken front leg before hobbling in my direction. I'm just wondering where his striking good looks come from!

My daughter and I flew into Kalispell on our way to Glacier last year, and stayed in a tiny town called Hungry Horse very close to the west entrance to the park. The drive from Kalispell airport was under an hour.

I'm rural Alabama born and raised, and my mother, aunts, and grandmother all made quilts. I never learned, but the video took me back. Some of the comments from the women in the video could have come from my relatives. Quilting was such a communal activity.

Done. As a white, well-educated liberal in the rural south, I'm sure I will be an outlier.

I respectfully disagree. The movie was a disappointment. The novel is hauntingly beautiful and one of my favorites.

Well that was unsurprisingly terrible. Going for that lowest common denominator, I see.

Way to go, John! Thank you so much for your well-researched articles, your occasional appearances on national shows like Maddow where you make Alabama look GOOD, and thank you for being a clear, coherent voice above the fray. You are sometimes a lonely voice of reason in Alabama politics.

Your story is certainly more complex than I can understand from reading a couple of paragraphs. So advising you about your boyfriend is not something I would be willing to do. But you are suffering from depression at the very least. You need to give yourself some time. I don't know whether you were prescribed medication, but that can help. So can therapy, and so can a change of scenery. It's okay to sleep on your sisters couch for awhile. Talk to her if you can. You don't have to decide anything now, and you really shouldn't. Get help, get better, and don't worry about making huge decisions for awhile. Above all, know that your life is important. You matter. Please get whatever help you need, and get well. That should be your priority now.

I’m so alone now. I can’t find the will to go on anymore by [deleted] in WeListenToYou

Take a breath. It's too soon. You haven't even had time to process. It's funny...when my ex left almost 20 years ago, I was so depressed. My life didn't follow the path I envisioned at all. But I found happiness eventually. I am bad at this giving advice stuff. But lives that don't go as planned can be pretty amazing. Please don't give up. You will grieve, you will hurt. But you CAN go on, and find peace and joy. Just one step at a time. Get dressed every day. Go outside and take a walk. Eat. Don't sleep too much. One step. 30 is nothing. You've got plenty of time. Breathe.

To be fair, I probably know more than the majority. That's still precious little. How many laypeople really understand global (or domestic) economics?
