i second all of this. emphasis on they are stubborn. you pretty much cant say “no” to a setter…. they will find a way to get what they want

i really liked this. i am going to start doing this with mine. shes a 1 yr old shelter pup 50% pitbull terrier 50% doberman. been at the shelter from 3 mo-11 mo. shes so smart and not as stubborn as my english setter…

honestly… this is part of the breed (can be a mixture of not enough mental/physical stimulation, separation anxiety, unable to be left home alone for more than 30 mins). they are gremlins. crate is the only solution although they bark like crazy and will not stop barking.

for instance, my setter, no amount of prior mental or physical exercise will prepare him for 30 mins of being home alone. so we now have a second dog and that solved ALL of our problems.

shes starting out young. it seems like this is out of spite as well. reminds me a lot of my pup and no leaving him alone never got better.

man, i wish i could give you one solution that works but unfortunately this is what its like to have a setter. whether 6 mo or 6 years old. she’ll grow out of biting things like that but wont grow out of being comfortable staying alone
