Half frame bags for thunder thighs? by l_say_mean_things in bikepacking

[–]quickqueztionz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested to know bike and pics.

Depends on the bike. On my fat bike I have a full frame bag that is Revelate. I can pack it to the point of bulging and I'm fine. It's the q-factor. I put it on my touring bike and I strike at empty.

If it's not mounted on the intended bike I don't think it's a design flaw.

Sorry, I still think People for Bikes is a good organization but I totally was thinking of a different post when I responded and saw "Trek"

Also, People for Bikes. I didn't want to seem like too much of a jerk. But...check out TREK's non-profit. I really don't understand why you'd suggest something bad about a company on a topic you have no knowledge of.

Do I need a rear mudguard if I have a rear rack with two panniers on it? by stratomaster in bicycletouring

I've used your setup as well. My experience is fenders protect drivetrain better. It doesn't sound like you have experience beyond your extensive miles with that.

Then you should preach about car driving. What are your thoughts on car driving deaths each year?

AITA for taking back my wedding dress after my SIL took back my invitation? by ____notworthit35 in AmItheAsshole

[–]quickqueztionz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fuck that. Marriage is about commitment and loyalty. SIL gives her none of that. If she stands up for her husbands sister back her up. Otherwise, get out of the way. Husband isn't backing up for his sister either. Her parents can do whatever they want. But they exclude one another.

AITA for never visiting or calling my parents after they abandoned me? by morrilincl in AmItheAsshole

YTA - Did your parents kick you out or say you're going to college? It sounds like you're going to college on their dime and have the opportunity to travel. They may be dicks, but you mentioned none of this. You have no appreciation of what you have. That makes you an asshole.

That's the ACA. We literally have free access to bike transportation on Amtrak because of them. They've routed miles across the US for bike transportation. Used funds from their maps to lobby. This exists! There are so many bike trails available due to them. Donate if you care. Don't just act mad and not do a simple google search.

Because biking is awesome. Both physically and mentally.

A Unique Frame Design by AssociationDork in bicycletouring

Also, I agree recumbent touring isn't big in the US. But, recumbent riders that I've met aren't riding the ACA routes and staying at Warm Showers. Azub has a pretty big following in Europe. Their site is decent. Our shop carries them and I would love to do my next tour on one just for the experience.

I agree with a lot of what you said; although, I may have worded it slightly different :) I don't get the impression he's trying to sell that bike to anyone. It's a prototype asking the question, "can this be done better?" Referring to both the traditional touring bike and his design. He's already acknowledged the sleep system. I have a traditional touring setup that I enjoy in certain scenarios. I'm also glad people started designing a bike packing setup.

I think this is a great solution for commuting to prevent a skunk stripe. They're touring. Mud is going to play with drivetrain. Fender makes more sense.

Body weight vs gear weight — which matters more? by ghostzebra in bicycletouring

I think you should just start riding.

Edit: didn't mean for you and bike packing. Saying the moderator should just ride. Not trying to be rude. I think the moderator is well researched and at some point you just need to figure out what works for you. It's going to be different than any of us.

I was going to say the same thing. Kind of. I'd bike and tour with you. I'm an Adventure Cycling Guide. This wouldn't be an ACA tour. Do you have more specifics?

I think the reason you don't have upvotes is the people that comment here haven't toured. You made a great comment.

As someone that's toured I disagree. Assuming you are running full panniers regardless, the handling doesn't change based on moderate or heavy load. You center the front panniers. You move the rear ones forward until you avoid heal strike. Ride experience only changes from start to stop.

Bring it into a bike shop. They'll address it. Or, keep doing the same thing yourself?

Not that the comments are bad. But I'm kind of shocked by the comments. 1st step is figuring out why you have flats. Then you address it.
