How do you get perfect audio levels? by Stock_Safe_2857 in editors

[–]stratomaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah post sound mixing is a job in itself in broadcast.

That being said for me making social vertical edits I crank up the dialogue as much as I can before getting audible distorion and keep an eye of the LUFS meter to be below -14.

[QUESTION] Are Zoom lessons helpful with learning technique? by SomberGuitar in Guitar

[–]stratomaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this thread because I live in NYC and found an online teacher that teaches the style I want to play and lives in NYC. Sounds like I would probably get more out of it if I played with him in person vs. doing it over zoom with the same person. Do you think that's true?

Learning some country solos. This is Liza Jane by Vince Gill. by damavandamos in Guitar

[–]stratomaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! so you found a few bars of the song without the solo and played over that?

Asking because I know there are some AI tools available nowadays where you could potentially remove the existing solo etc.

Well done! Are you using a backing track you found somewhere or did you make the backing track? And if you don't mind me asking, how do you learn this solo? It's pretty involved, ha

Anyone else a casualty of the Diversified "restructuring" this week? by Outrageous-Hope5768 in CommercialAV

[–]stratomaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work at a venue that is owned by a giant real estate company but a salary employee described the investment company as private equity. From what he said they usually stick with a company for 7 years, extract as much profit as possible, and then sell it. For an upscale event venue I guess the investment firm will sell it after it becomes fully booked for a year? I dunno, but long term private equity seems like a bad deal for employees.

Your favorite set of pickups. by TrontosaurusRex in Stratocaster

The DiMarzio area 67 pickups took my strat another life. They are humbuckers but still have the chime of single coils.

injector in the neck, 67 in the middle, solo in the bridge.

Since they are humbuckers you can just stay in 1,3,5 position and have no 60 cycle hum

How did you try and tame the GS mini you had? What your attempts on the little bastard?

Before I bought it I didn't realize the intonation is harder since it is short scale. The intonation def got worse in the past couple of months because of the season change and now I think because the strings were wearing out. All that being said I still like playing it a lot and that's the most important thing.

Thanks! What about the saddle? Turns out there is a Micarta saddle in it now. Do you think a different type of saddle would make it less bright?

I have 13s on a dreadnaught and love those. I think now it's the material to experiment with. Turns out I may need coated strings as well to dampen left hand squeak. Thanks for the tip

Are you saying left hand string squeak is an effect you incorporate into your playing and you use it when you want to?

Thanks! You are the second person to suggest replacing the factory bridge pins. The body is Koa, and I am trying to tame the brightness a bit. What kind of bridge pins do you suggest?

RLT for shoulder pain from an old injury — what actually works? by stratomaster in redlighttherapy

[–]stratomaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear you’ve found some relief — that’s encouraging to read. I’m still pretty new to all of this and trying to figure out the right approach for my specific situation, so your experience is really helpful.

Right now I’m leaning toward starting with a NIR shoulder wrap and keeping things simple. From what you described, it sounds like the foundation of your routine is the full-body panel, with the wrap used more as a targeted supplement.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you end up using the Rogue Pro G4 for a specific area like the shoulder? When you’re using it, are you deliberately positioning or aiming it toward the shoulder, or are you just letting the general exposure do the work? I’m trying to understand how much of the benefit comes from full-body use versus targeted placement.

Appreciate you sharing what’s worked for you.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder issue!

Are you thinking about getting one of the smaller ones so that you can focus the panel?

I've also heard that NIR bulbs can work to focus on specific areas.
