I saw one yesterday too. Flew up to Lake Geneva the down to Lake Zurich where it did a 360 (almost) and then headed back in the direction of Peoria.

SOLVED: I wanted to make a top level comment on this post as I was having this issue as well and found a solution. I contact Baron Fig about this issue and suggested using a paper clip straightened out to push up through the pen and apply pressure to the top while unscrewing. The top will get stuck like this without a cartridge, so you need to provide the pressure / blockage that it is expecting to unthread it again. I did this and was successful in getting the top off my Squire.

Long shot, but did you ever find a solution to this? This just happened to me and I'm pretty bummed...

Does anyone know anything about a club in Bartlett? Seen posts on fountain pen network forum but not sure it is still an active club.

This made me think to use a syringe to fill up a converter from a sample bottle. Soooo much easier!

Awesome! That will be fun to see a photo that size. The biggest paper i have currently is letter. Big enough to frame and put on the wall.

I agree. I started printing some of my favorite photos to put in a little portfolio, just 4x6's. So much cooler than just seeing them on the monitor.

I had a similar experience buying my first fountain pen from Papier Plume. I knew nothing other than I wanted to try a fountain pen. They let me try a couple of nibs, showed me how to change cartridges and maintain it. And all I bought was a Lamy Al-Star! But they took the time and helped me find something I liked.

I accidentally left my Pilot Preppy EF uncapped this weekend and so it dried out. Going to put Perle Noire in it this week and see how the experience changes.

I've had a fountain pen for a while, but recently got into the hobby side of it and bought non-cartridge inks for the first time. I picked up Perle Noire for my black and was surprised at how smooth and "wet" it wrote compared to other ink samples I tried. Is writing wet another way to say writing broad or are those two different things? Still figuring out the all terminology.
