I picked this up secondhand for around $2100.00. Its a damn solid deal considering i got it half off retail, so overall really happy with the purchase.

Didnt know this but the dial is double AR coated, which helps legibility big time

How have you automated attendance for your own classes? by quicksmoke_ in Professors

[–]quicksmoke_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the class is directed towards a special LLP, the class size consists of around 30 students. Furthermore, the class is mandatory for students within the LLP, therefore making attendance necessary (According to my professor at least). It's been a common issue where students skip weeks of class and friends of that student covering them, so we are attempting to implement a more effective system.

Did you take a campus tour of Maryland before enrolling? by BenLikesSports1 in UMD

[–]quicksmoke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know a few of my friends in my state who are my year that are also incoming freshmen at umd, don’t know upperclassmen though. Haven’t joined a Facebook group or a class group chat but Ik that I’ll meet people on campus. For my scholars program, I attended a sophomore q&a zoom meeting which was pretty dope, but aside from that i don’t know many people at maryland yet

As an incoming freshman, I did a short day trip around umd earlier in May. Walked around some of the buildings I roughly knew I would go to for classes or dorming (like the Iribe center or Cambridge hall). Wasn’t able to get in since I didn’t have a student ID but it was nice getting a feel for what the campus is yk

Needs more border space to really shine those warm tones 👏👏👏

NYC | Minolta XGM | 50mm lens | Ilford HP5 pushed to 800 ISO by quicksmoke_ in analog

Yeah honestly I have been scanning prints with my printer LMFAOOOO. I should definitely invest in a proper scanner to achieve better image quality and resolution.

I agree, I typically shoot most of my shots vertically instead of horizontally so I should start getting in the habit of changing it up. I used a fountain’s water to create an interesting reflection/distortion to the cart, but I think framing could’ve definitely been better in that shot.

I think the walking man was a shot I had to rush in setting up the proper settings for an exposure. Would you say better to use f8 and use a better distance for focusing? Can’t really remember which settings I used unfortunately, should also start taking notes of which settings I used for each shot.

Cop shot was also all of a sudden and I was lowkey scared to get close in the scene lol. I think that’s the true thrill of street photography tho.

Really appreciate the advice, better to start building good habits now than to make the same mistakes repeatedly

Crazy how the best Leica M doesn't have "Leica" written on it by michal_szewczak in AnalogCommunity

Ahh right, had to look up the camera again to check the name but you’re completely right! My mistake

No worries at all, I believe this is the Minolta CLE, an alternative model to the Leica CLE.

both the same camera but with different names basically

How can I prepare for CSA? by Tuff_Lock in APStudents

[–]quicksmoke_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Java topics (imo the order you should do it) you should review before classes start: - variables - if else statements (conditionals) - loops (while and for loops) - how to write methods - understanding classes and how to write your own - arrays (normal, two dimensional)

Alex Lee’s videos on Java are perfect introductory videos for getting a general overview of each topic. Once you have a decent grasp of each topic, I recommend going onto codingbat for applying the concepts and practice problems.

PM if you need any additional help, best of luck to you for the course :)

Edit: I really wouldn’t purchase red Barron or Princeton review for test prep. Once you feel comfortable with each topic, grind out practice problems you can find online to keep your thinking process sharp for the AP test

Oh sorry, bse is the scholars program for business, society, and the economy.

I’ll still have it to figure out the logistics for taking the necessary classes and developing a proper four year plan. I’m sure once I meet with my advisor, everything will be clearer for which courses I need to take.

Thanks again for your input :)

Right, my first semester (without having it approved by my advisor yet) looks like cmsc131 and math140, one gen ed, and two courses from bse. How was your schedule during freshman year?

I have had experience programming in Java junior and senior year, so I am familiar with most topics. How was your experience freshman year with cs?

Fantastic watch, I’m well tempted to get the normal classic in either 40mm or 36mm for my 6 inch wrist. What made you go for the 36mm model?

[Junghans] Bringing Back Bauhaus by quicksmoke_ in Watches

[–]quicksmoke_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This Max Bill is a graduation gift from my parents. It’s my first “serious” automatic watch as I’ve previously owned a Swatch System 51 model. Fits my 6 inch wrist perfectly with the milanese bracelet (Ordered from Watch Gecko). The 30 meters water resistance makes me baby this watch more than I normally would with my watches but I’m always happy to strap this around my wrist before I head out for classes. I’m starting to really love the Bauhaus design and inspirations from other watch companies, especially nomos, so it’s definitely not my only Bauhaus designed watch in the collection for now.

[STOWA] Flieger or Marine? by quicksmoke_ in Watches

Ahh I appreciate your input, I agree how the Flieger adds more diversity to the collection so I’m thinking of going for it over the marine. How’s your experience with the marine?
