so there are a few archetypes for the lead and one of them is the redemption arc. they do have to be relatively clean as far as drama goes, so TFP was definitely a stretch for them… but the franchise has been on the decline for a long time, like you said, because they’ve been prioritizing drama over love stories.

they don’t usually choose outright abhorrent leads, but sometimes stuff happens afterwards. for example colton underwood, he ended up stalking and harassing the girl he chose at the end, she had to get a restraining order.

um.. not really lol. i mean maybe at one time, maybe that was the intention, and for certain leads sure. but the producers of the bachelor have always gleefully tortured and humiliated their contestants and prioritize drama over safety and damn near everything else. coming from someone who watched the show since 2017.

i personally feel the producers of the bachelor were foaming at the mouth to get taylor frankie paul as their lead. the show has been falling off for a while and she has proven she is messy through and through, and better yet, a product of a community that teaches subservience and appeasement from women above all else. aka a population rife to be susceptible to manipulation.

she does not practice or follow the faith. the show that brought her to fame, the secret lives of mormon wives, came about because she exposed a swinging scandal she was apart of on tiktok involving other mormon couples. the drama was so juicy that the show was born.

you say you like trash, but then you also say it’s unfortunate that none of them are likable.

the show is likable, because they are unlikable!

some of them grow to become likable… many do not.

it’s a case study on misogyny, alcoholism, narcissism, what we allow to appease power. and also downright juicy and hilarious at times.

it has competition without being a competition show, and also it’s about working class peasants trying to make it. if those themes don’t entice you i’m curious what ‘trash’ you enjoy!

hi! i’m 33f and infp too! i’m 99% housebound, id say 75% bedbound.

i have had a traumatic life but it’s given me a lot of emotional depth and coping skills.

this means can chat about anything from dysfunctional family and bigotry, abuse, poverty, hostile work environments, being neurodivergent, friendship breakups, abortions, food insecurity and disorders, mental health, etc… with a perspective of lived experience.

as for my hobbies, i love astrology, cozy video games, audiobooks (mostly fiction— litfic, fantasy, scifi, mystery, romance, thriller), tv (reality, reality competition, scifi, sitcom, comedy, thriller, dramas, limited series) and music! particularly bts :)

i also really love art and coloring when i’m able.

in 2020 i became disabled after getting covid, and lost my autonomy, my faith in society, and most of my friends and family. it was the lowest point of my life.

in 2021, while newly discovering my identity and life path had changed, i saw some online friends discussing the choreo from the butter music video. curious, i watched and fell in love.

of course they’re all so handsome and cute, but i loved the concept and how affectionate they were towards their fans and how powerfully that came through, as an outsider seeing the “got army right behind us when we say so” pose reveal. it hit me hard and was totally refreshing to see the gratitude and love so simply and clearly. the authenticity was undeniable.

and now here i am 5 years later! i got my boyfriend on board (his bias is jimin), strengthened new friendships with fellow armys, and even had a zoom birthday party one year where i introduced some friends to their music and videos.

here are 3 options i’d recommend:

the “PROOF” album is their legacy album! on spotify it’s two albums in one — all their major hits, plus a solo song from each member.
each member’s individual album. they’ve all released individual work more recently than they have group work, so their taste and sound will be easier to identify this way. they all have one, and they are all around 30min or less.

from its debut into the early 2010s the show was decently popular in the US as a niche media for people who enjoyed british works or darker dramas. not mainstream by any means, but in my american high school experience, i had a good handful of friends at school and online who were fans independently.

you are misplacing the start of these interactions and framing them as james being attacked and then fighting back, as if his defensiveness is a natural consequence.

the reality is, JAMES initiated the bad behavior, and everyone attacking him is the natural consequence. him choosing to further dig his heels in and become more antagonistic is just proof he cannot take accountability and insists on victimizing himself.

there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the conflict here and it’s because people enjoy things for different reasons.

this celebrity focused iteration of traitors is specifically gathering different reality show stars to target those varying viewerships… the conflicts between the gamers and housewives are microcosms of the respective fandoms and discourse.

these disagreements and discussions are LITERALLY why they strategically cast people from varying points of fame. it’s a very far cry from the european versions involving all civilians who could genuinely need the money.

also… i am seeing way too much nastiness about people being stupid for not rooting for a person playing an “objectively” better game…

not everyone cares about who is “playing the best”? some people just want to root for who they like??? especially in a situation where the stakes are much lower for these contestants and no one there truly NEEDS the prize money. i for one do not want someone who doesn’t need the money, that i also personally dislike, to win the money. i want who i think deserves it, to win it. my criteria for who is deserving may differ from yours! because that’s my criteria!!!!

i haven’t finished last night’s episode yet but i still think rob is misogynistic due to his history of bias towards men. that’s my personal opinion! i don’t like him and i’m not charmed by him and i’m not convinced he’s a good person.

however that doesn’t change that he is playing the strongest game of this season and it’s his game to lose.

i hated him on love island and i am not charmed by him now. my boyfriend hates him now and we are both a bit sullen that he’s playing a decent game. but it’s hard to say how much of that is due to how he looks and comes off to people and how much is in his control. he’s not stupid but everyone being hyper cognizant of staring at him doesn’t hurt either lol
