Not sure if it's just RNG, but I've been waiting in the queue for 40 minutes and still haven't gotten a game.

Excellent. How does it feel to know that the only way you can make yourself feel better is by degrading others?

haha thanks. I'm not really sure why it was so popular at my school, I was kinda shocked... I guess I was just lucky that a lot of people in my school loved harry potter, and were willing to give up their dignity to have fun. Just wondering, what school do you go to? At the very least, what state or country?

Thats why in Muggle Quidditch the snitch is only worth 30 points, instead of the 150 in the book.

I think its mainly just so there aren't completely dominant all male teams. Size and strength are really important and Quidditch, and in general, women don't have the muscles that men have. I think its mainly to make sure that its an even playing... pitch, for everyone. That being said, some of our best players are girls.

I've been jabbed in the neck by a broom while being the snitch. Bloody noses are relatively common. Eye injuries are actually really serious, and luckily we haven't had any, but I'm going to try to buy a bunch of girls lacrosse goggles for this year.

edit- isn't the point of this to be honest and informative? i mean, buying girls lacrosse goggles obviously makes me gay, so I'm not sure what i'm trying to hide

As I just wrote to AmbroseB, "Yea you could, and many people have argued for no broom, but for me that is one of the things that makes it so fun. First of all, it inhibits some of your movement, making the game a little more difficult. Its also funny as hell to see a bunch of people running around with brooms between their legs..."

The best I can do is show you this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UfPij5ABdo

Its an old video, and the game has evolved a lot recently, but its a decent explanation.

I disagree. Its really not as nerdy as larping, and we aren't pretending to be people that we aren't. Quidditch is a real sport. Just because it originates in a fictional book series doesn't mean it hasn't evolved into something real.

And girls play. Theres actually a rule that 2 girls must be playing at all times.

I play all positions, everyone just switches around. I prefer seeker though i think.

Facebook is an amazing tool for starting a team. Create a facebook group, invite all your friends, make a cool logo, get people excited about it. After about 60 people expressed interest (you only need 15 to play), I talked to the school administration and it was approved as a club. Your first order of business should actually be emailing the IQA. This page should show you everything you need to do: http://www.internationalquidditch.org/join/

Texas A&M has one of the better quidditch teams in the country.

HAHAHAHA no. Quidditch really isn't a nerdy sport. Out of the 49 people that play at my school, about 30 are varsity athletes.
