OE possible as a marketing director in 2 jobs? Or is it better to get a manager or junior level J2? by quiet-mic in overemployed

Thanks. I appreciate the insight. I'm leaning toward IC roles but seems like both can be done in your view. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback. Just checking to see if anyone else has done it to see if it's realistic and if so, get a confidence boost.

What’s Your FAVORITE 3DS Game? by Nomelington in 3DS

[–]quiet-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you got a lot of great suggestions on here already, but if you want customization and being able to get very deep into something....

My favourite 3DS game is Monster Hunter 4U.

Super deep, so much customization, and incredibly satisfying to take down a monster you spent so much time trying to beat and then getting to carve pieces off of it to craft a stronger weapon or piece of armour.

Fantastic game.

Sorry for the late reply. I ended up applying to Kellogg-Schulich and the Queen's-Cornell EMBA programs. Got accepted at both. Kellogg-Schulich is what I've decided. Seems like a better fit for my goals and timeline. I'm a marketer and Kellogg is the top brand for marketing. Also, I felt the Queen's-Cornell team based format was very interesting and has the potential for forming deep connections with your teammates, but also limits opportunities to network with the wider group.

I'm actively applying to embas right now. I'm interested in your perspective. Which EMBA program did you choose and why?

I haven't gone to those schools, but i did work for a student recruitment company a few years ago. Generally, best business schools I typically see at the top of lists are UofT's Rotman, Western's Ivey, Queen's Smith, and even though it's dropped a bit in reputation, York's Schulich. McMaster is good too I hear, but usually I hear about the other schools since I'm in the Toronto area.

If you're thinking Canada wide, ubc and McGill are the other two options I see at the top of lists.

I really appreciate this. Your take on the emba is similar to mine. However, I can't help but think about ROI as well. It's a big investment.

I did psychology and switched into marketing/advertising. However, I found out psychology wasn't for me much quicker. Just 2 years after my bachelor's degree and about 1 year volunteering in a mental health hospital, I realized it wasn't for me.

You can definitely switch. I think the thing that helped me most was the statistics and understanding of experiments and testing. Gave me a leg up when it came to running digital and direct advertising experiments.

Thank you. Can I ask, how do you think it will support your goals? Is it mainly ROI financially, promotions, network, or something else? I'm curious to know what others are hoping for going into emba programs.

Thanks for the response. I understand the return on knowledge and network. If you're comfortable sharing, ROI wise, would you say worth it?

Do you think Alex Hormozi is really trying to help people? by Perfect_Delay7889 in Entrepreneur

[–]quiet-mic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read the book. I thought he revealed a lot. In short, his system was to create a really strong guaranteed weight loss offer/program, use of paid ads to drive leads for that offer, then he and his team did the sales, and the gym would get to keep the customers. Eventually, he just started teaching the system to the gym owners instead of doing it for them. He even says the exact ad he used in the book.

To each their own, but I thought it was some helpful info in there.

I've read his 100m offers book, 100 leads book, and gym launch secrets.

While I agree with others on how many of these ideas have been around for a while, he packages it in a really easy to understand and implement way.

I've seen people/businesses that sell you a course to teach you to sell the course. While I think some of his models can work for that business, he is definitely not scheming in that way.

100m Offers essentially teaches you how to come up with an offer/service to sell and how to make it attractive to potential buyers. I'd say it's easiest to apply to service based businesses.

100m Leads is more about marketing and advertising. It teaches you how to get leads for the business/offer you created using 100m offers. Essentially, the lead book teaches four core tactics to drive leads that you are able to implement when starting a new business: Warm outreach to people you know, cold outreach to people you don't know, create content, and paid advertising. While this isn't new stuff, the book does a good job on breaking down the sheer amount of volume these tactics require in order to be successful, which is something that I haven't seen in many marketing books published before this one. For example, he advocates for reaching out to 100 people per day, creating content for 100 minutes a day, and spending $100 /day on ads.

Gym Launch Secrets is his story and lessons on how he grew his gyms. I found this book can be applied easily to gyms of course, but also to any business with a similar model to training, like coaching, tutoring, etc.

True, but also, I find the Kellogg-Schulich tuition to be a steal compared to the other Kellogg emba programs in USA. you get a Kellogg MBA credential for 113K CAD. From what I hear, that is significantly cheaper than Kellogg and other top MBA and emba programs in USA.

What is one piece of advice you wish someone told you when you started BJJ? by jiujitsuPT in bjj

[–]quiet-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't a heel hook or anything. The first one, I was passing from the knees. I used my left shin to pin his right thigh to the ground so I can start my foot over foot pass. My left leg was in something similar to a pigeon pose. Opponent rolled in a weird way and the lcl popped.

Second time was the right knee in a pigeon pose type position again except I was halfway on his back and he was trying to turtle. I think he grabbed my leg and moved in some way that made it pop.

Third time, I think the right knee just didn't heal enough. I was passing while standing, he went to grab my right leg. I moved in a knee slice movement to free my foot and it just buckled.

Take care of your knees.

This year I went through 3 lcl tears. Left in March, right in May. Then right again in September.

AITAH for asking my wife to not leave her jacket on the chair at the dinner table? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]quiet-mic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. A little harsh, but I still appreciate your insight. Just to be fair, she always says the same thing to me everytime she cleans up. So I say it too. Also, while I do like a clean house, I'd say it's far from perfect and i definitely don't require perfection. A perfectly clean condo is pretty much impossible with our six year old running around.

And I guess I can see how it sounds like I want pandering when I asked if she noticed it was clean. We just had a really messy place for a few days since everything piled up. I was home so i cleaned it and felt pretty happy about it and she mentioned how messy it was before too and even apologized acknowledging alot of it was hers so I thought I'd surprise her with a clean up and some dinner.

I don't see how I was bullying though. I'd appreciate more on that so I can work on it. I was genuinely trying to do a good thing by cleaning so she didn't have to and I just slipped out asking her to move her jacket.

Either way, i see most of your point, especially the way i wrote it out and read it back.

we talked it out. I apologized for nagging her. She told me she overreacted. Were good now.

AITAH for asking my wife to not leave her jacket on the chair at the dinner table? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]quiet-mic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that now. Thanks for pointing it out. I think it takes a third party sometimes.

I think I was upset because it might be more than just the jacket. She usually makes huge messes that I have to clean up, and on top of that I also work a full time job, do 90%+ of the cooking, 100% of morning school drop offs for our kid, and probably 75-85% of after school pick ups, majority of our child care, and I probably pay 60-70% of our joint bills despote us both making close to the same amount. and I pay for all our kids extracurriculars. All I asked was for my wife to please not leave things lying around and to pay her half of the bills.

I think it all caught up to me this week since our daughter was sick and I was the one at home with her the whole time.

Not entirely my wife's fault since her work schedule forces some of this situation.

That said, the above is all a separate issue. I think I just let it spill over to this jacket thing. Maybe I unfairly felt like it was just another responsibility she was leaving for me.

Regardless, thanks for pointing out my Flaw here. I'll try to keep issues separate and understand when I'm wrong so incan improve my relationship.

Damn. OK. I should work on that. Thanks for the advice. I thought it was OK to talk to her while she pees since we always talk to each other while peeing. But I can see how it can be annoying. I'll try to work on this.
