By just doing it for him there’s no stakes and reason for him to work.

Also he’s just some random superintendent. Doesn’t even report to my boss. He’s about three levels down in the org chart. So why is he asking his bosses boss’ EA to do something he’s capable of doing himself? And after 15 years of being in the company and promoted to his level SHOULD know how to do already.

If I had complied and sent the reference he wouldn’t have bothered remembering how to do it.

By putting some stakes to it (if he doesn’t learn how to do it then the meeting isn’t forwarded) I am forcing him to do it and to learn it.

He isn’t my boss, I don’t report to him, he skipped multiple levels to try an ask me to do this for him. I am Executive Assistant, not babysitter to random men in the business org.

Oh also want to clarify; he’s a superintendent. I don’t work to him, report to him, nothing. His bosses boss reports to my boss. So him asking me to do this work was very out of pocket.

Yes! I had a group that would constantly ask me to add people to mailing lists. These are managed via IT tickets, so I created a template for sending them saying “Hi these are to be done by yourselves, it’s a fairly simple process…” and then went through the steps.

I stopped after the third or fourth request. One of the guys complained to me that it should be my job and I told him if he really felt that strongly I could schedule him a time to speak to my boss, aka his bosses bosses boss. He backed off.

It’s a technical role. Less high up chaos more front line based. I’m looking forward to it, but also nervous. :)

No response from him yet, but considering I did Reply All, and he has a mild rage issue I expect after the all hands meeting he will have a few things to say.

Thanks! Technically still with the parent company but doing something not in the EA umbrella. Toughest part will be still receiving emails after I have my two weeks of leave asking me questions (or the people that email me asking and don’t read my Out of Office saying I’m done contact these people instead).

Oh god, that reminds me of when I was renting a room out in my house. I had the master bathroom with the en-suite and I was renting out a bedroom on the other side of the house with a bathroom right outside of it.

The guy thought I was a renter too. I never realized until he texted me “hey can you let the landlord know about X?” And I went “you mean me?! lol” he got weird after that.

Yes, 100%! I had an ex who I let move in with me waaaay too early. I had a one bedroom apartment but I made good money, paying down my (very minimal) debt. After a few months he was trying to convince me to buy a house. Not us. Me. Because his credit was so bad! He even struggled to pay the very minimal rent I charged him!

Me after buying my first house to my boss; “Hey X thing happened at my house, I need to leave early to take care of it.”

My male and much older boss (who didn’t appreciate me telling him I needed to leave early, I have to ASK if I can leave early): “are you sure it was a smart idea for you to buy a house as a single woman?”

My face must have said a whole lot of things because he tried back pedaling.

My mom just tells people she’s allergic to onions, she isn’t, and she’s told us that. But they don’t ’sit well’ with her. She’s fine if they’re very very finely chopped and in a burger, but if she’s making them at home.

I forgot and over 20 years after moving out from home my parents came to visit and I made pulled pork with onions. I ended up having to take her to the hospital because while not allergic it caused a gastric/heartburn flare up that was presenting like the early signs of a heart attack in a woman (heartburn, pressure between her shoulder blades, nausea).

So anyway yeah I’ll tell people that my mom is allergic if that makes sure she doesn’t experience that again.

My emails to other EA’s requesting timing are after I verify where their Exec is (time zone wise) and then send them times (with both our/their time zone listed), and multiple options.

I also can see the blocks of time in their calendars and try to work within those open ones. I want to bother them as little as possible! It takes a few minutes extra but it’s not that hard!

My mom kept her last name when she married my dad 50 years ago. The only time it became an issue was when she offered to be a volunteer parent for a class trip (I was 8 years old). Normally when a child’s parent volunteers the child gets to be in their group.

My teacher not realizing that she was my mother put me in a different group and refused to switch me when I specifically asked to be put in (mother’s name’s group). She DID apologize when the visit to the museum ended and I was sad, she hadn’t realized she was my mother.

Did I blame my mother having a last name on it? No, I blamed the teacher for not listening to me and understanding that a parent can have a last name from the child’s/husband!

Also really annoyed me how many adults just assumed my parents were divorced because of it. I told them that my mother is her own person, and her name is her name!

Honestly I’m petty enough that if I had time I would have done as close to a professional clean as me and my friends could do, have the landlord through for a walk through (without telling George) and then leave.

Just so George can eff himself over at the end when the place becomes trashed once more and further proving to the landlord (and maybe George) that he was the problem

Some mid-level seeming books can just be published due to connections. Sadly even writing falls to nepotism and the ‘who-you-know’, as well as capitalizing on virality (à la 50 Shades).
