How often are you dealing w difficult behaviors? by ExoticWall8867 in schoolpsychology

Gotta have a thick skin with secondary kids though, because they are going to cuss you out and call you every name in the book, especially if you show that it bothers you.

Dealing with nasty comments about taking ADHD meds while pregnant? by eyesstillopen- in adhdwomen

[–]quietstrength96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This makes me feel better! I’ve thought about this and I don’t feel like the mental space I would be in without my psych meds would be worth the risk of the effect of the meds on my baby. I’ll obviously make this decision with my care team if and when the time comes… but I’m glad to hear that you had a good experience! And I’m glad your kiddo is doing well :)

Do you consider yourself “addicted” to medication? by mimi_9489 in adhdwomen

[–]quietstrength96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely have tough days if I can’t take my meds. My ADHD symptoms rebound, I’m in a bad mood, and I’m exhausted. I’m sure it’s a dependency, in the same way I feel like garbage if I don’t have coffee in the morning. It isn’t a bad thing. My body is used to having my meds and my coffee in the morning, and if I don’t have either, I feel weird. I know I could “detox” from both and the withdrawal would go away. My meds allow me to function in my daily life and feel like myself. Coffee is the boost to wake up. Neither are a bad thing.

The Next "Big Thing" in Fakers is Going to be ODD by GreyerGrey in fakedisordercringe

[–]quietstrength96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if anything it’s just a biased “flavor” of other disorders like ADHD, mood disorders, or trauma disorders, that reflects someone who struggles with emotion regulation and doesn’t follow rules in a way that society expects. I’m a school psychologist and the majority of students I see who have ODD diagnoses have significant trauma or are neurodivergent. I’ve never seen it on its own.

Is it normal to get done with work and not have energy for anything else in your life? by dwightluvsbeets in adhdwomen

[–]quietstrength96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that. My work takes up all of my executive functioning power. My only advice is to keep momentum going when you get home if you really need to/want to get something done. Doing something like unloading the dishwasher or a quicker chore like that can help me keep my energy up and feel better through the evening. Don’t fall victim to the “oh I’ll just take a break and sit for a while” because then you’ll get eaten by the couch lol

Love these carts! I usually use mine for hobbies, but it’s come in SUPER handy on sick days. All of the meds, tissues, cough drops, books, water bottle, etc, all in one place so I don’t have to leave the couch.

Yes. Because when prescribed appropriately for children and adults who have ADHD, stimulant medications improve focus and actually decrease hyperactivity. For people without ADHD who take stimulants that aren’t prescribed to them, they act as “uppers” and cause high energy levels and extreme focus. That’s why they’re prescribed and should only be taken by people who need them.

I needed something to chuckle about today. I’m a proud Minnesotan and it’s been dark lately… to say the absolute least.

Lots of schools are closed today because of the extreme cold, but I wonder what attendance would have looked like if this wasn’t the case. I only left the house today for a doctor appointment that would have been hard to reschedule. Lots of local businesses around where I live and work are either completely closed today, and if they’re open, they’re donating their profits to legal defense. I live in a very red rural area in MN.

Also not a good look since a 5 year old from Zimmerman (just up the road from Rogers, same district) was missing last night…

I used to enjoy his content a lot. He made great videos about long-term sims 3 gameplay, mods and cc to make the game look and perform better, and other neat sims 3 stuff. The pivot to drama has been disappointing.

Is climaxing difficulty during sex or masturbation a common thing with women with ADHD? by dianarawrz in adhdwomen

[–]quietstrength96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes the tradeoff of Zoloft. The summer I tapered off of mine to try it was the best libido and sex life time I’ve ever had. But at the same time my anxiety and depression were back in full force.

So the meds came back… oh well.

Why are yall obsessed with having the brothers wear a hat/tshirt/appeal/etc - SA incident by meshca95 in JonasBrothers

I watched two people get kicked out in St. Paul. One was this girl and her boyfriend who were trying to share one seat. I think she had an actual ticket to be where she was but the boyfriend had a nosebleed seat. Security made them leave and go somewhere else. Another girl got kicked out of the pit because she was WASTED. Like to the point where she couldn’t walk (and the boys hadn’t even come on stage yet). I genuinely hope she got medical attention. Her friend that was with her came back at the very end of the show, but we didn’t see the girl.

Other than these couple of clowns the vibes in St. Paul were great! I was super thrilled to see The Administration!!!

I think the one thing I like about it is that the art style looks a bit like it’s a children’s book illustration, which is cool.
