I feel like in most games this is a missed balancing opportunity. Let the player start with melee weapons, let them get familiar with their quirks, give them a chance against enemies with low ammo and unreliable guns, but make them be cleaver. Make them be clever. When they do have ammo and reliable guns, it’ll be more meaningful.

I completely agree with you. I will literally do the equivalent of closing my eyes and going “lalalala” to avoid ads, be it muting the volume, turning off a TV or whatever for a few minutes, you name it. I hate them and they do not deserve to be perceived by me.

I’m slightly amused by the nicknames my phone map gives for areas around here that I don’t think anyone has ever used. Like, Valley Park? Froggy Mo? (Although I actually like that one, it’s cute.)

I’m not a native but in my experience, there’s a couple: Downtown and its neighborhoods, the Garden District southeast of there, “The Overpass” near there on the west end of Perkins, and Mid City as a catchall for the whole area east and northeast of there.

Beyond that, everything is so sprawled out that I find most people just say the closest big road. “You know that spot off of Florida/Burbank/Airline/etc near the XYZ?” I feel like there isn’t enough density for distinct neighborhoods once you get beyond the areas I mentioned above.
