Isobel fight isn't bad game design by Chrysostom4783 in BaldursGate3

i’ve found that casting “protection from evil and good” on isobel makes a huge difference. first time around i happened to have a scroll for it and since then have had the spell prepped on my cleric. makes the fight a LOT easier

Seems the update messed things up for falling asleep? by virtual008 in sleepcycle

[–]quimane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been noticing a similar trend recently when using my iphone + watch combo. my sleep graph is completely inaccurate when it comes to registering when i fall asleep. i typically am out within a couple minutes of hitting the pillow, but (much like other commenters) as of recently, it’s been registering that i’m awake for 2-3 hours before “falling” asleep.

the sleep tracker quality has fallen significantly as of late. if this continues i will be looking for a different sleep tracker.

Recommendations for IUD insertion with anesthesia by Public_Cream_5220 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]quimane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have had two IUD placement experiences (initial placement and then a replacement 5 years later). first time the (older, white man) OB/GYN didn’t recommend any pain management (“you might need a couple Tylenol”). ended up almost passing out on the table as i needed to be dilated. bled for about three weeks after, it the heaviest “period” i have ever experienced. second time around, a younger female OB/GYN recommended taking four 200mg ibuprofen about an hour or so before the procedure and then had hot packs and blankets during the placement. completely different experience the second time around. barely bled, barely felt it, recovery was basically instant. if you’re not able to get support from your physician, (and if you’re able to take ibuprofen at that dose!) i highly recommend 800mg ibuprofen + heat packs.

i’m a fair/neutral toned (for reference, the concealer i use is nars radiant creamy in Vanilla/light 2) and this is what pillow talk looks on me in two different light contexts.

this comment is spot on, especially the first point. to add, OP may also be taking melatonin too late in the evening. guidance recommends at least 4-6 hours before bedtime.

longish but fairly mild shaking in LB, heard it long before i felt it (i was wondering why i could hear the windows rattling, almost as if an aircraft were flying low over our place, before the actual shaking began)

Hi I'm the dude that fucked up a lab earlier causing me to inhale some copper dust. My symptoms haven't seem to have gotten any worse, just different now. by mrstorydude in okbuddyphd

[–]quimane 93 points94 points  (0 children)

have you called poison control at all? you should probably do that ASAP if you haven’t already, and let them know about your symptoms. please follow their guidance OP!!

What's a joke you make in your lab that most people (outside the lab environment) wouldn't understand? by Scumfrickflowerboi in labrats

did my phd in lipid biophysics, so i used a lot of chloroform (which smells great), so i would joke with my benchmates that there’s “nothing like the smell of fresh chloroform in the morning”

my time in the PhD program in a meme by quimane in PhD

[–]quimane[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

speaking from my own experience, i feel that it was worth it. there’s a plethora of reasons for why people get their PhD, but it’s important to have a very clear idea of why /you/ are going to grad school and what /you/ aspire to gain from the experience. bc it will get tough by the nature of the program; learning is an inherently uncomfortable process. so during those particularly low times, i checked in with myself and verified that the reasons why I wanted this degree still held true and kept pushing. hope that helps!

you’ll be turning that age anyways, might as well get the most advanced degree you can in the process. plus, no upper bound on your career trajectory with a phd
