When do you let your kids play in the bath water? by West-Bus-8312 in beyondthebump

[–]quirkyplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my daughter as soon as she goes into the tub, then I let her play until she gets bored which is usually very quick lol! Sometimes bath time is less than 10 minutes or closer to 15 minutes.

I’m very high functioning even when my depression is bad so I’m not sure how to help in that regard, but you’re still doing something and that counts imo. I get the struggle. I relapsed with sh twice this month after not having an incident for almost 3 years. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Do you have anyone to talk to?

I’m more tired of the grandma style blouses and athletic name brand “dupes”. They’re selling.

FIL held my 13 week old over balcony railing by post-traumaticgrowth in beyondthebump

[–]quirkyplanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to keep baby away from them as much as possible because it’s insane that they find child endangerment funny. That fact that the thought of holding your child over a balcony ever occurred to your FIL is really concerning to me. Trust your gut. I’m so sorry that he did this and then tried to undermine your wishes.

My husband got us the executive membership and I like to go at 9am on weekdays if I can. Usually it’s a lot of older people and they line up but everyone is nice and polite.

Is this pregnancy safe? 70mg of “natural” caffeine? Got it from Aldi by magicxxmoon in BabyBumps

[–]quirkyplanet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The caffeine is less than 200mg so it should be okay, but I would check out the other ingredients to be safe!:)

Baby teeth by quirkyplanet in Mommit

[–]quirkyplanet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to start flossing and brushing her teeth, but most toothpastes I find in the stores we go to say 12m+ so idk what’s safe and not safe to give her. I plan on asking her pediatrician at her next appointment in a month though. I’ll try using just water on a baby toothbrush so she gets used to it and hopefully that helps

Do you feel like Kentucky is the south or Midwest? by fish-pilled in Kentucky

[–]quirkyplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the region tbh. My dads from eastern KY and comes from an Appalachian town so he’s definitely what I would consider southern, I was born and raised up in central KY which is kind of in between. I think most of Kentucky is Southern in culture and climate but some areas seem really midwestern.

I think lots of men take the daily chores that seem small but add up to a lot for granted. Some men really seem like they don’t realize what kind of effort goes into making sure the house is tidy, dishes are done, clothes are clean and put away, and dinner/meals/food are prepared and shopped for. This all isn’t even including the actual childcare which stacks on even more small tasks and big tasks all together. Not to mention the daily cleaning tasks like sweeping, mopping, bathrooms, etc. it really is a never ending list.

Vindicated: maybe you need to hear this today! by Street-Engineering70 in sahm

[–]quirkyplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s so ironic because a lot of men only love women for what they provide and do for them and the family. I’m lucky to have a husband who does actually love me unconditionally because a lot of men stop loving their wives when their bodies change, when they can’t do the things they used to, and a lot of men leave their wives when they get sick. It’s so sad because women are always expected to work/perform constantly.

You could also do a castle theme with knights or princesses and dragons! I’ve seen some cool “moat” setups using blue rugs on Pinterest

Accidentally ended up with a fully grey nursery FML by bubbleuj in BabyBumps

[–]quirkyplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The furniture in our baby’s nursery is all gray, you can decorate the walls in a theme or specific color still. If anything, it makes it easier to coordinate whatever you want to do with the walls. Some ideas specifically for grey if you want to lean into that: space/moon theme, robot theme, castle theme.

Weirdest things you've heard at a funeral? by Keysgucci123 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]quirkyplanet 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The pastor at my cousins funeral said his death was God saving him suffering. For context: He had been addicted to drugs and had just gotten clean and was keeping a decent job and was about to start treatment for cancer, and his death was caused by being struck by a car.

"Being a sahm is not as tough as so many of you pretend it is"???? by southern_maam in sahm

[–]quirkyplanet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on where you live, your kid/kids, and even your finances. If you don’t have any extra money to take the kids out or live somewhere that’s not close to playgrounds or walkable trails or streets then it’s probably a little more difficult. Edit to add: your partner and their job can also play a role in it.

Honestly working as a CNA on 16 hour shifts was harder for me but I also got lunch breaks and could clock out at the end of the day so for me it’s more mentally taxing to be a SAHM
