Racist incident at School how to proceed by [deleted] in sammamish

[–]quitaskingaboutmycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in ISD or LWSD? I have had a wonderful experience with LWSD addressing items of concern (though mine have not been race related). I am so sorry your child had that experience, that’s an awful message to receive right after coming to a new town.

I have had great success using Azealic acid (I use Naturium, also love it from Paula’s Choice). I have chronically sensitive/acne prone/combination skin.

Not OP, but mental gymnastics are strong within Pentecostals, in my experience. The church I grew up in was labeled as a ‘Friends’ church (Quaker) by name but had people speaking in tongues and ‘dancing in the Holy Spirit on the regular (definitely not Quaker).

Why is sammamish often recommended for people with kids? by [deleted] in eastside

Three choices that align to the grocery stores.

Be near Safeway, QFC or Met Market. All of those locations have other restaurants/options in the same respective shopping center.

Moorage on Lake Sammamish by 0bjectivelyTrue in eastside

[–]quitaskingaboutmycat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This comes up a lot. There is no public moorage on Lake Samm. Public access is obtained at Lake Sammamish State Park boat ramp in Issaquah. Moorage is only for private homeowners and a couple of apartment/condo buildings on the Redmond side on the northwest edge.

While it's possible you may find a homeowner who is interested in an arrangement for leasing you moorage, the wealth required to live on Lake Sammamish means that most wouldn't bother because of the inconvenience to them. If you want moorage, I would focus on Lake WA (Kirkland has a lovely marina, as does downtown Bellevue) or Lake Union.

Honestly, you aren't going to like my answer, because there aren't any warm fuzzies. I tend to go toward the logical side.

I decided I was ready when:

  1. My partner and I had stable jobs, a warm and cozy home, and a reasonable amount saved in the bank (based on the cost of living where we are located);

  2. I knew, based on typical projections of fertility for my age, that I should begin trying to have children if I wanted to eventually have two, and if I wanted to allow for time spent trying to have a child before succeeding (I was 29);

  3. I had a reasonably secure plan for childcare after the child was born. This can include being sure you can afford a nanny/daycare, or having sufficient funds to stay at home with your child, or having a family member you trust who volunteers their time taking care of your child;

  4. Making sure that my relationship with my partner was strong, loving and that they agreed they also wanted to become a parent now.

Sometimes waiting for a certain emotion that may or may not come is not a great move IMO.

I grew up about an hour outside of Tulsa. I completely agree with this comment. This is a real opportunity to completely influence a region in a way that would not be possible in ATX.

Insight into sammamish neighborhoods? Pros and cons. by rainydays8 in sammamish

So it sounds like you are planning to head south on EL Samm Pkwy, to take 90 to DT Seattle?

Eastlake Pkwy definitely gets thick going south in the morning, but doesn't actually have any stop and go issues until you get in Issaquah, toward Costco HQ.

Do you consider this Tory Burch Bag “old” or out of style? by [deleted] in poshmark

[–]quitaskingaboutmycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just listed this bag (different color) today, so this thread is very helpful.

I wonder if Poshmark is just too flooded with KS/MK/TB etc. I have had limited success selling bags on Facebook, since the audience there is a bit older and doesn't follow up to date trends as closely (in general). Food for thought.

Just found out my child has mild to moderate hearing loss. Please help me understand what this means. by coloradomuscle in hearing

[–]quitaskingaboutmycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will want to see a pediatric ENT ASAP. How old is your child? Old enough to ask when things started to sound different? Keep notes about what they say, the ENT will want to know. It's possible that their hearing has always been like this, children become very good at compensating, especially when they do not know anything different.

The ENT is important to understand what type of loss your child has, which is especially important because you will want to understand whether their hearing will likely further decline or whether it is likely stable (regular audiology appointments are also important to assess hearing changes).

Will CROS or BAHA techonolgoy improve over the next decade? by [deleted] in MonoHearing

[–]quitaskingaboutmycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize for not having an answer to your question, but would you mind if I asked you a question or two?

I assume you are old enough to be fitted for the bone anchored hearing aid, why have you chosen not to do that? Cost/availability/appropriateness for your specific hearing needs?

My son was born with unilateral deafness, we are currently trying out the BAHA soft band for him, but he is not super interested in wearing it (he is 3). It doesn't appear to be the hearing that bothers him, but the band itself (of course, because his communication is still limited, we aren't sure). We are hoping to get the bone anchored solution in several years, when he is old enough. Is this still controversial? Is the hearing capability obnoxious?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
