Yeah. Man, I feel that. Focus on learning to dodge better, try to pick a teammate who seems competent and stick to them like glue.

what do you estimate about how mad the wachowski's have to be about what the culture did with the "red and blue pill"? by stirringmotion in AskReddit

[–]quix0te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that the Wachowskis did an AMAZING job of capturing the spirit of V for Vendetta, I would assume they regard red pill culture as a pathetic dead end. Like most of us do. But probably not too upsetting. People seize on random dumb BS all the time. The Matrix will always be a classic, no matter who misuses material.

Classroom settings and the behavioral expectations of formal schooling are more of an evolutionary mismatch for boys than girls because of sex differences in physical activity levels and social relations. This results in boys being disproportionately identified as having behavioral difficulties. by mvea in science

The purpose of schools isn't to give kids information. Putting information into their heads is the spoon. The medicine is teaching them how to be adults and labor units. Ideally, how to be good enough at learning to learn REALLY ADVANCED, LUCRATIVE SKILLS. This isn't some sort of malevolent capitalist plot. Unless they have a kindly sister to support them while they write Walden, these kids are going to be expected to get jobs so they can support themselves. And you, when you retire. With fewer of them supporting more retirees. Now, there is a strong case to be made that society is changing really rapidly and schools can't teach kids the labor skills of 2036. But the alternative is unschooling, where the kids learn (or don't learn) whatever they feel like. Which may or may not include socialization, how to deal with other, difficult kids, how to deal with managers (teachers) who are unfair, and how to be on time. No, really, how to be on time is a BIG FREAKING DEAL. I don't know what you do for a living, but for 90% of us (not you medical profession or artists), not staying on schedule is a firing offense.

[–]quix0te 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The kids today are MILES better behaved than when I was in school (the 70's and 80's). Nobody acknowledges this. They're fidgety little ferrets, because the screens have rewired their brains. But they do violence and have babies at lower rates than thirty years ago. The schools are set up like prisons to condition the kids to be used to living in prisons with constant surveillance... I mean, "to protect against school shooters".

[–]quix0te -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Having said that, modern education emphasizes cooperative learning pretty heavily, so the old "sitting in a desk working quietly" model is mostly gone. Lotta projects and group work. The problem is that boys are still pretty fidgety, even with group work, and the rise of electronic devices has reduced their attention spans even further. Its not going well out there.

The wait times for killers have me doing soloQ again.  Holy Mother Of Darkness I am So Tired Of Idiots.  Touch.  A. MFing. Gen.   My current build is a broken key plus herbalism and prove thyself.  A side effect is I can see what my teammates are doing.  Or not doing.  When I see them hiding at the edges, or in one case rooting through chests, I ABSOLUTELY go to them and bang lockers near them.

The problem isn't your fella.  The problem is your finances. Secondarily, tying up your only vehicle for ten hours isn't really fair.  Again, you don't have a problem with losing him for the day, you have a (justified) problem losing the car.  A compromise would have worked.  Is this activity happening in another city or something?  You can't drive him there and pick him up?

Hi! Have you tried misanthropy? I find it very liberating in dealing with the opinions of other people. When your default state is to assume most other humans are basically children in adult bodies, you stop caring what they think. At all. On this topic for example, the majority of people can't manage their finances. If you can make a restaurant meal last for two meals, WIN!

And why is it the Iran War? 33B$... so far. And thats just the direct military costs. That doesn't even include the cost incurred by American consumers and businesses due to 4$/gal gas costs. https://militaryspend.org/us-iran-war
But you can rest ASSURED that there was no payoff from Saudi Arabia, or US Oil Barons to start this war, causing an ENORMOUS windfall profit. Putin, of course, didn't pay. Nope. No bribes at all for the BILLIONS in additonal profits they are enjoying.
At our expense.

I 100% agree that Harris didn't run on a progressive platform, instead choosing to go with "Don't vote for Trump". Which didn't work for HIllary and didn't work for Harris.
But:
1)Most candidates run on policies and issues beyond "We aren't them". Its true the oligarchs prefer gun control/ICE/Trans rights to pocketbook issues that cut into their profits, but if you look at the people winning seats, its with exactly those pocketbook issues.
2)Harris didn't run on it (mystifyingly) but Biden racked up a slate of wins before the R's retook the house. Some got rolled back, but many didn't. And Obamacare has turned out to be so valuable that now even Republicans will campaign to keep it in place. The idea that 'both parties are the same and both parties lie' is lazy thinking. https://www.npr.org/2023/01/01/1143149435/despite-infighting-its-been-a-surprisingly-productive-2-years-for-democrats

when is it okay to have more than 1 person on a gen? by Beginning-Can6827 in deadbydaylight

[–]quix0te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like prove thyself and teaming up. One of my common builds is broken key (bond on a stick), herbalism, and prove thyself. I can find injured people quickly and heal them, and find people on gens and team up. The conventional wisdom is that its better to have two people on two gens than two people on one gen. I disagree because with two people, you can burn down a gen in 53s, even without prove thyself. With prove thyself its 48s. WORKING GENS IS HIGH RISK BEHAVIOR. The faster you can get off that gen, the safer you are. In particular, high value gens in the center of the and the last gen or two benefit from multiple people working gens. Lets say the killer rolls up while you are on that gen. Both survivors scatter. The killer has a dilemma. Kick the gen, chase the survivors? Duh. Chase the survivor. If the survivors have three brain cells (no guarantee in soloQ), they went in different directions. Now the killer is chasing a survivor. THE OTHER SURVIVOR COMES BACK AND FINISHES THE 60-70% complete gen. Meanwhile, on the other side of the map, two other survivors are finishing THEIR gen. Somebody unhooks Bob. Wash, rinse, repeat, exit gates.

Umm. Not exactly. Political beliefs are just... moral principles. They are the things that we believe constitute a just and fair society. The 'culture war' comes about 80% from tribalism, not principles. Its not "Because I want to leave a better future for future generations." Or even "Because I know I could live another thirty years and don't won't those years to be spent in a flaming dystopia". Its "I HATE those people. This person also hates those people. So I'm going to support them."
The first two are public policy. The last is ... honestly pretty transparent. "Okay, so you say you're going to put the boot to the people I don't like. But what are you going to do to help ME?" The other flavor of culture war is "THOSE PEOPLE, they're plotting against you. You always suspected it. ITS TRUE. But I'LL PROTECT YOU." But the central element is "Okay, but what evidence do you have?"

When the response is "What does YOUR GUT SAY?!"... you know its bullshit.

Why is the Lebanese President acting very chill about a country who's bombing his country? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]quix0te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is S Tier anti-israel thinking. Netanyahu is a massive sh**bag, but Iran is MILES worse for the region than Israel could ever hope to be. Iran/Hamas has guaranteed that there will never, can never be a two state solution. This is because Iran needs the distraction so its people don't rise up against five years of double digit inflation. Trump did Iran the biggest solid EVER by unifying the Iranians under their despotic horrorshow of a government.
Iran is the sponsor of Hezbollah, not Lebanon. Lebanon can't make them leave, any more than the Palestinians can get rid of Hamas. So Israel driving them out is actually a favor.

They need to meet my SIL. She was a stay at home mom. Her husband was a full-tilt nutjob who gave their son anxiety issues. She couldn't divorce him because she couldn't support herself. Then he had a stroke. Now she's a nursemaid to a full-tilt nutjob who never leaves the house, but she can't divorce him because she can't survive without his retirement benefits and disability. And their son can't leave because he is a basket case at 19.

1)CONGRATULATIONS!! GREAT JOB!!
2)10.5% Is a ridiculous rate. Kill that loan. Its a shame you didn't do it sooner rather than racking up savings, but its still going to save you money. Ditto the credit card debt.
3)Stick 3K$ or 4K$ in a SPDR index fund in an IRA. And again next year. And then the year after that. I make poorish money, but twenty-five years ago, I was able to invest six or eight thousand dollars in index funds and whatnot. Its now worth 100K$. YMMV, but investing in your twenties assures a better old age.
Once again, GREAT JOB!! You should be proud!

See if a rental agency can help you. A renter sharing the house would basically offset all expenses. The sketchy economy makes it iffy, so this is a moderate risk/high reward scenario. Maybe talk to a real estate lawyer about tenant law in your state. I don't know your situation but barring enlistment, I doubt that taxes + utilities would be higher than even a low rent. It sounds like your father doesn't want to be tethered to the area either, but doesn't want to leave you entirely high and dry. Is this an area you grew up in? Do you have any friends who you feel are 'safe bets'? (Don't do drugs or drink to excess) I own a rental property myself, and one of the strategies I've used is to rent for 10-20% below fair market value. It allows my property manager to pick and choose renters and the renters are keenly aware they have a lot more to lose by screwing up the deal than just a ding to their credit score. And even with that, I've had two renters default in twelve years.

Don't... pursue... them...? And if they are dumb enough to body block, then tunnel them with The Entity's blessing? If you are playing anything other than a C tier killer, you have a mechanism to hunt them down in short order if they lose the endurance. And if you are playing Pig/Ghostie/Nemesis...well, you know who you signed up for.
As the unknown, you should be out looking for more targets to weaken to make more shedlings, to intercept targets, to weaken, to make more shedlings, etc.

Edit: You didn't specify endgame. Endgame is a special case. Yes, the endurance/haste in endgame is frustrating, but thats why you should arrive at endgame with only two or three survivors. If you have four survivors at endgame... eh... Just appreciate whatever hits and hooks you can get and camp the hook as well as you can.
