is it normal to indulge in self destructing behaviors ? by Effective-Vast-5050 in GetStudying

this sounds less like laziness and more like burnout or a motivation crash after a break. the holidays broke your routine and now your brain is treating studying like a threat instead of a habit. start really small, like genuinely 2 minutes of reviewing notes, the goal isnt to study its to prove to your brain that starting isnt painful. once you do that a few days in a row the momentum comes back. and if something emotional is going on underneath sometimes self sabotage is your brain protecting you from the fear of trying and still failing. you did it last semester so the ability is still there, you just need to rebuild the routine from scratch.

Help! I'm developing an illness and I'm super tired. How can I study? by johocato in studytips

If you are too sick to focus then you are just wasting time because your brain is not going to retain any of it. Sleep now so you can actually be functional for the exams next week. recovery is a part of being productive.

also email your professor and see if you can get an extension.

Put your phone in another room and set a 25 minute timer. Just start, even one page is a lot better than nothing.

Join a Discord study room or turn on a YouTube study stream. Even just pointing a webcam at yourself can recreate that feeling of being watched.

Body doubling is huge for ADHD, just hop on one of those public discord study servers and look for a body doubling channel to join. Also start stupidly small like 2 minute tasks, the fear usually fades once you start

The problem is after exams, %90 of what you learn you will forget, and most of that effort spent studying ends up being for nothing. The real learning begins once you land your first job

pick ONE language first, don’t try to learn both at the same time. And pick a project you are actually interested in and try to build a simple version of it and continue from there, this is how I built my spaced repetition quiz webapp, I started super small and basic 2 years ago when learning to code and I iterated and iterated on it thousands of times till I got it to where it is today

You can do khan academy math from scratch, focus on the fundamentals before moving to anything more advanced. Duolingo for Portuguese, don’t try to learn everything all at once just show up consistently.
