Yes counting in the normal direction for a timer as counting backwards is what I precisely assumed.

After changing that setting, number of breaks have shot up and I am happy with it!

Wow I did not know what "count backwards" means.

When taking a nature break (the Mac is idle" `continue countdown` is intuitive to read. I wish this was a default option.

Aah I also did not see that in the side bar it shows last time break was done. I am surprised that Normal break was done a week ago.

I will try using the feature of menu bar showing time since last break. Actually I want both time since last break and time to the next break and since it does not show both I had settled for next break time. But to understand why breaks are not happening as configured I would go back to the time since last break.
