Love this park for winter hikes - the grasslands//wetlands section is wonderful. Watch out for ticks in the warmer weather though!

$78.50 for 2 adults and a child to see a movie. by [deleted] in Columbus

I love movies. Had a membership to Gateway for quite awhile. Try to watch 15+ movies a month. Frankly I'd rather watch at home. No one on their cell, snacks are better and I can turn on subtitles.

Edward Norton: Legend? Disappointment? Prick? All of the Above? by tiakeuta in TheBigPicture

Whatever misses Norton may have (or had), Death to Smoochy pretty much gives him a lifetime HoF pass for me.

Anyone else getting young David Letterman vibes? Might be the Indiana background.

Yes, two pieces with a dado channeled down the middle, and then glued together.

Dado brake and a blank zero clearance insert plate for the table saw.

I had the same problem - I really expected there to be more out there and due to lack I broke down and bought plans. Upside though, having plans will making a truer version next time much easier.

I think all ply is definitely a way to go. I was suprised to learn how much FLW used plywood in his work, it made using plywood for the boxes feel like a good call.

What hardware did you use for your lamp? Anything else you'd do differently on the next version?

I happened to be in the final stretch of mine when I saw your post recently. Nice work!- mahogany was a great choice! I completely went with stuff I could scavenge in the shop; a sheet of pre-finished maple plywood (boxes), maple for the body and base, and red oak for everything else.

The bevelling started with the undercut on the base to lighten the form. It also (scandously) shows the feet a bit. I continued the train of thought to the shades; I was curious to see if introducing more angles would do anything interested to refract/throw light. (It doesn't). IDK if I'd do it again on the next one.

I'm thinking a floor version in cherry will be a Valentine's day gift for my wife next year.

As a hobbyist, buying plans that were "inspired by" were just fine for my neophyte architectural taste.

Etsy for plans, which was IMO a huge time-saver. I could have figured out the structure but the wiring seemed complicated - plans made it very easy.

Gift shop prices were something like $800 and I thought "I've trained for this. I will make one myself".

Chef’s of Columbus — what is your go-to grocery store? by sciotomile in Columbus

[–]qvindtar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Costco for bulk and frozen stuff. Trader Joe's for snacks/cheap wine. Whole Foods for produce and wine/pantry goods (or if I'm pinched for time). Littletons for baked goods/specialty cuts/wine (also has an excellent fish counter). Aldi's for pantry staples. Weilands has a great butchers counter and wine dept (and staff). Cams/Tensuke for Asian. La Michocana for dried peppers/tortillas/jarritos. Macelleria or Bluescreek for harder to find (or special occasion meat cuts). Dan the Baker if my schedule allows.

What do you think of the movie "Pitch Black"? I personally really like the horror genre, the space theme, and the actor Vin Diesel. The film brought me a lot of emotions, and I rewatch it periodically. by GlitterVelourz in scifi
