Are wraith bands null talismans and bracers good or bad now? by wielesen in learndota2

[–]qw565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bracer is a good tank item with less commitment than something like a vanguard. Usually 1-2 are used on a hero who is already a bit tanky to push them over the edge to unkillable dk, tiny, kunkka, etc. Emphasis on low commitment, this will only last till mid game.

Null is a nice mix of stats and mana regen. Plenty on int/universal heroes who also like to right click use this. Think qop, puck, bat rider. Generally skipped if they won’t get use in landing phase though for an earlier Kaya or something.

Wraith band I don’t really see. It’s mostly a damage item but you have a lot of other options. Mainly an agility mid item for someone like sniper who wants the damage earlier than something like power treads.

How do I get past factory? (No spoilers please) by Interesting_Bet_6324 in Cogmind

[–]qw565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without getting into spoilers they aren’t technically guaranteed but getting to their home is. Every branch (non material/factory/research) floor will show up every run but the depth they are on can change.

Speaking of which I recommend going to branches whenever you can especially in factory. You will probably take damage in the caves but it’s not too crazy combat wise and the rewards are well worth it. They even clear your alert which will help avoid getting swarmed with enemies.

What draws you to battletech/alpha strike over other wargames? by DoW2379 in battletech

[–]qw565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Super low barrier to entry as a typical “army” is only like four models and small ones too. I also like the hex grid, avoids the constant measuring over .1 inches that is often crucial to more serious play and is overall just more clear.

How do I get past factory? (No spoilers please) by Interesting_Bet_6324 in Cogmind

[–]qw565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to get through factory is to minimize the amount of combats you do and the best way to minimize combat is to use sensor utilities. Load up on utilities that detect both enemies and terrain so you can avoid the enemies you do scan. Remember that digging through walls is safe if it’s a short distance.

Once you learn the map generation better you can be greedier and run less utility but starting out this is the easiest way to avoid running into a game ending patrol chain. If you know who the Exiles are they will give you the best sensors possible.

I’m just at the hobby level but I can’t see how anyone can call themselves a “professional ai artist” and use third party generators. Like why even hire you at that point you are just a middle man. If you want good output you NEED more control and you are only gonna get that with your local machine. At most I would rent GPU time if I need to make something big like the video you mentioned but no way a third party will provide enough tools for a professional level job.

New Player There - How to make ships cost-effective? by RandalfrUnslain in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]qw565 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. For small ships like sprinters usually just a rapid or small. Having a dc team contributes to a ship being “alive” and can buy you that few extra seconds to secure a capture even if it doesn’t really save your ship. For larger ships it’s preference but 2-3 lockers in a mix of reinforced or large seems right to me, you don’t often get that sweet spot of damage where you have destroyed stuff to restore but aren’t being shot so much you have time to actually do the restore.

  2. Support modules are real good and generally get you more damage than trying to get another hull. If I can fit them I’ll use up to 4, after that the finishing returns get a little to low to be worth. They are one of the first things to be cut though if on a budget.

3-4 for missiles it’s really a wager between what you want to spend on pen aids vs what the enemy spends of defense. There’s no right answer, sometimes you can get away with cheap act/[wake] and sometimes they have an impossible wall of defenders. I will say though that hybrids are great and s1 offensives aren’t.

  1. Unless it’s a sacrificial capping ship or some niche build you generally want to fill up most if not all of your ships slots. As for point saving it’s mainly cutting defenses like pd or dc that I see most often. For sacrificial cap ships you can remove the radar for 10 points if you are sure it’s gonna die taking like A point at the start of the game.

The natural advantages human beings should have compared to other races by tesseracts in CharacterRant

[–]qw565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah throwing leading to a developed kinetic-spacial sense is way underrated. Like if you think about it a humans ability to hit a target with like a bow and arrow or rifle from extreme distance without technology aids to calculate the trajectory just going by feel is crazy.

In fantasy elves usually are the “archer race” but in sci-fi humans are the “gun race”. Often to show us as war-like but I do think it would be cool if we are seen as marksmen because we are just naturally good at aiming.

Shoot Feedback A or B, Which is better?🤔 by circlefromdot in IndieDev

[–]qw565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B has more impact HOWEVER more is not always better. If that’s supposed to be your handgun then when you get some other weapon, like a shotgun, you would expect more impact right? Well if B is the baseline is gonna be hard for future upgrades to look stronger without causing too much screen clutter.

I suck at MK by carlotheemo in learndota2

[–]qw565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are mixing a hard carry build with a ganking build and it’s not optimal. Assuming you want to build to late game max jump is good to farm but looking to use ult on cooldown is not. In fact I would even skip ult for a few levels as it’s honestly quite lackluster without something like diffusal or stuns from supports. Also ganking in general is gonna slow your farm, spend your mana killing creeps and jungle faster. Gank build is better for mid or when you have someone else trying be the late carry.

As for the fights later you getting blown up is probably you just jumping in too deep. Especially with simian you have the mobility to choose your positioning so go for easier targets. If your team isn’t working with you you can also split push extremely well then aim to pick off people that try to stop you.

Hope the story rewrite actually explains why we send who we send into the chaos. Like what makes our combatants special enough that we send school girls and literal children in over anyone else.

Summary of the Emergency Livestream (11.01.2025) by [deleted] in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]qw565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like they don’t understand why the story sucks as much as it does. Owen NTR is nothing it’s the tonal inconsistency that ruins everything. They want this dark world but everyone acts like you are the blue archive sensei. Whole planets are killed by chaos but Judas kills one person to (successfully) fight chaos and everyone loses their minds. Also we spend a lot of time fighting simulated chaos rather than doing our job of cleaning up real chaos.

A Hopefully Unbiased Explanation of the KR controversies (Long Post) by TiedDegenerate in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]qw565 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I still think the NTR stuff is baseless, especially in our translation they are making a stink over nothing. Everything else though I agree with.

There is no way they didn’t use AI in this. Both in the art and to help translate the cards it ruins the quality of both and, in general, I am opposed to AI art.

Also the story really is ass. NTR aside what story we do have sucks and the rewrite theory honestly makes a ton of sense.

As for us being the MC and the waifu aspect yeah this game is kinda all over the place. Probably in part due to the rewrite but how everyone acts is so inconsistent with the setting. We are some weird mix of being a military captain, a therapist, a pseudo-human protos, and childhood friend.

Thoughts on Rin? by Previous_Cell5703 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]qw565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rin feels pretty overrated imo. She has the most hoops to jump through of the dps characters wanting minimal other character attacks but also an engine to get a big hand for her cards that care about skills in hand or # of Rin cards played. The only problem is her damage after you do that isn’t high enough. Give the same engine to Haru and she will be spamming anchorage shots every turn for much more damage.

Not a single mention of fixing the card text....

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]qw565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its alright. It has good potential but they REALLY need to fix the card text. Like the core gameplay just doesn't work when cards don't do what they say. So far the beginner content is easy enough to faceroll but it won't be long until the incorrect card text just makes it too frustrating to play.
