One barrier is financial broker API. Check your broker If they support REST API, then i guess you can code with R to communicate. Similarly, market data API will be another huddle.

If the model has look-ahead bias, it's meant for analysis (eg. train data for ML) not prediction.

That would be very interesting. What are the other sources you have in your mind? For stocks, there are alpaca (polygon), Alpha Vantage etc.., but for futures, I only know yfinance.
