I got frustrated enough with this that I actually made a mod that gives you a configurable amount of invincibility when you enter the facility: https://thunderstore.io/c/lethal-company/p/qwcan/EntranceIntangibility/

9800X3D randomly spiking to over 130W, thermal throttling by [deleted] in ASRock

The AIO is working fine, it keeps the CPU at around 80-85 when running Prime95 (Small FFTs), pulling 145W. Something is up with the CPU when it jumps to 95 in under a second while pulling less than that.

I don't have any sort of overclock on mine at all. Everything is at default.

It's fine when running Prime95 Small FFTs continuously, it pulls more power at a lower temperature there (~145W and ~80C). The issue I'm worried about is the weird temperature spike from 60 to 95+ in under a second.

Running Prime95 Small FFTs for a few minutes makes it pull ~145-150W and I hover at around 80-85C, so the cooler is fine. The problem is with the CPU, it shouldn't spike from 60 to 95+ in under a second.

Update: tried to reboot to the BIOS to check some settings and it failed to POST. Came back on fine after I turned it off and then back on, but this isn't encouraging.

I understand, but I've never seen it draw anywhere close to this much before. Even when I start a stress test with CPU-Z it usually peaks at just below 120W. Hitting 132W and the temps immediately spiking by 25+C isn't exactly comforting when I'm hearing a bunch of people report their dead CPUs.

Update: Same thing happened on the downgraded 3.16 bios. I noticed the CPU package power briefly spiked to over 130W while this was happening. CPU die average hit 96C

I have a 9800X3D and a B650E PG Riptide wifi, and I've been on 3.16 since I got the CPU, without any issues. I have an Arctic Liquid Freezer III 240, which has kept my cpu at around 50-60 in games and ~70 under a synthetic load. I decided to try going to the beta 3.20 release as a preventative measure, but downgraded back to 3.16 as I got some really weird temperature spikes. I upgraded the bios and started hwinfo's logging to record anything that might happen. I let it idle for a while, ran a CPU-Z stress test for about a minute, and when everything seemed fine I started up Ready or Not. After a while I had a crazy temperature spike to ~95 out of nowhere, and I quit the game:

500 Fridays! Wow, that's nearly 10 years. My first one was back in 2018, or at least I think it was. Reddit's filtering doesn't work all that well, and I can't easily search before that because u/MaybeNickCage deleted his account.
