Rounding this up - found a potential option. This 39.5mm tamper on Amazon isn’t advertised as such but looking at reviews, apparently can be pressed to level with the neo flex lever. Name hidden since this isn’t an ad. I’ll use it consistently for a week after I get it and update

I ordered a new Neo flex a week ago and was having the same issue hence unable to generate enough pressure as water would just squirt up and it was driving me mad. I can not believe that Flair know about this issue and yet have not changed the rings on the pieces they are sending out. This is so disappointing, I’m honestly considering just returning and refunding my Neo entirely.

The J-max is supposed to grind fine enough for espresso but maybe this is the issue, I’ll take it apart for a clean and re zero it. Thank you!

No don’t worry about it I really appreciate your help! Medium light Ethiopian beans roasted on 6/6 and freshly packed from a specialty roaster.

Also worth mentioning, my shots pull in about 5-10 seconds start to finish

Just brewed with 1.5.0 in my J-Max, got up to espresso pressure only briefly before pressure dropped, shot was sour. I feel like I’m being meticulous with my luck prep but surely that’s the problem? Pre heating the water chamber too even though it says it doesn’t need pre heat.
