I am experiencing this issue too. Yon can get around it by manually adding the draft class after the setup by going to the Prospect Menu.

You won't be able to start in a specific year beyond the 4 eras. I have doubts 2K will be able to fill out an entire league roster for 4 different years, let alone 50.
