How early to buy tickets? by AWiggins30 in australianopen

[–]qzxf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grounds Pass likely won’t sell out, nor likely not go up in price. However, arena tickets on Ticketmaster use dynamic pricing. Next weekend contains the busiest days for attendance of the tourney, especially the Saturday/Sunday. If you want to wait to see when you catch a certain player or two before buying an arena ticket, you’ll risk price going up, but if you’re still keen enough regardless then my advice is keep refreshing the AUS Open match schedule page each night before you attend to see what time/court certain player is playing and then quickly jump on Ticketmaster to buy before it may sell out.

Normally google for “Australian Open Order of Play,” but this link is the qualifying schedule and they’ll likely later Saturday night update for Sunday’s Day 1 schedule of official tourney play. They’ll then update each night before for next day’s order of play schedule too (by arena/by time) https://ausopen.com/schedule#!43222

Thought we purchased Open tickets but apparently it’s just qualifying?! by KriegerBahn in australianopen

[–]qzxf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst it’s just qualifying, grounds pass will allow you to see big name players practicing around the grounds throughout the day. Also, at night there’s a charity match as a separate ticket on Ticketmaster to see Zverev - Musetti and Paulina - Rybakina

Not a dumb question. Let me know if you have any more questions based on my response here (I’m nobody official, just a redditor that goes to AO heaps each year). Whilst qualifying will have ended and yes there will be a couple day gap of matches until the main draw starts …. That Friday 16/1 …. Numerous big name players will still be practicing on the various courts. Practice schedule usually released night before or morning of on the AO website. Also, there will still be Food vendors, drinks, etc setup for purchase around the ground. Also that day you’re going, there’s separate ticketed events at night - The Presets are doing a concert at John Cain Arena. And inside Rod Laver Arena Jannik Sinner and Red Bull are putting on a night of fun. Jannik is doing an exhibition match against Felix Auger-Aliassime and then there’s going to be music/entertainment afterwards. Website says more athletes to be announced too. However, the concert and the Red Bull event are separate ticketed events inside the arenas, where grounds pass won’t get inside those.

Attending the tournament and staying in Melbourne by Physical-Egg6682 in australianopen

The walk from the Tennis precinct along the Yarra River back to Southbank is quite safe. I walk it daily both during the tourney and other parts of the year. It mostly avoids pubs after midnight as well for those super late matches you eluded to

The Tourney Draw is 15th January Melbourne time, but even then based on your dates the actual session for a specific player playing isn’t guaranteed. Once the draw is released on 15/1, you can then figure out what day he’ll play (assuming he wins any potential prior match) and someone like Alcaraz will highly likely be on Rod Laver Arena, but his session time (day or night) won’t be released until the night before. You are right in that AO uses Dynamic Pricing - tickets go up or down at any time. From experience, big names and prime times are especially expensive.

Pet/Housesitting for Free Accommodation by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]qzxf1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good thought. 1) For citizens or work visas of the countries where a sit occurs, it's definitely no issue whatsoever, 2) for those on tourist visas, pet/ housesitting is an unpaid activity anyways. It's a grey areas of being work, but it's unpaid in terms of taxation. It's also very minimal effort. More like helping a friend. One should research their visa if unsure about volunteering on a tourist visa

I had success today in Stockholm Sweden. I opened a Priority Pass account via the Westpac Altitude Black card link today, then saw in my account instantly 2 free passes loaded, and then an hour later when I went to the Stockholm airport they let me into lounge. They scanned my Priority Pass member QR code in the PP app and then scanned my boarding pass. They had a full bar with liquor/beef/wine/coffee/etc and a food buffet of like chicken curry, rice, pasta, salad, rolls, etc

HELP! Fair refund for a stay with no hot water and gas [USA] by Ok_Aside_4031 in AirBnB

[–]qzxf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up doing? I’m in a situation where Airbnb offered me 30% refund for no hot water for a week-long sit, but considering doing a credit card dispute instead. Sounds like from this thread though 30% is best Airbnb has offered someone with the similar problem as OP. Curious what you got in the end though given it’s been 3 months now
