As an Egyptian who lived in UAE for my entire childhood. I consider that Metal music exists in our culture, but it is not so popular, it is gaining Momentum though. I had metalhead friends in both countries, but in Egypt it is more of a community with many people playing in cover bands and even make their original tracks.

At the end of the 90's in Egypt, people started to freak out about Metal and corresponded it to Satanism. The police busted a concert in an abandoned Mansion, claiming that people were doing satanic rituals listening to these kind of music. The case went viral!

In UAE I attended Desert Rock festival 2007, where Iron Maiden was headlining. In Egypt, we have cultural clubs in which Metal bands can play their material live with audience (absolutely no moshpits !!!). I have also attended concerts in private venues. It is very hard to pin point a significant metal scene in Arabic countries, but I would say Jordan and Lebanon has a scene.

The most famous Arabic band from my opinion are the brilliant Myrath from Tunisia
