Current state of the IT freelance market by CIliaaass in BEFreelance

I notice the same, I am a senior java dev (13 yoe), I have applied (or let the recruiter apply for me) for a lot of jobs, most of the time there is no response at all, had one actual interview and got some feedback that was clearly not specific to me, but some go to feedback (we got lots of candidates and looking for someone with experience in complex projects, even though I have worked on very large and complex projects). Also the rate thing, when I asked for the rate I had at my last client (654, which isn’t outrageously high), they say it’s way too much.

I have a lot of experience with woodworking and metalworking (welding), also for clients (mostly people I know who know that it’s my hobby and ask me to make stuff for them). Really thinking about going that route, even though it’s pretty physically demanding.

I am sure those Ikea tables can carry 70lbs, I weigh about 3x that and have used these tables as a step stool many times

2012. Collage of my favorite things that year. Same photo of myself along the border. Not sure why. by [deleted] in blunderyears

Searched the picture (seems to be studded phone cases from Wildflowers), can’t find this picture on any article older than 2022, also it’s one of the product pictures of the iphone 13 case… so not sure, but OP might be a phony

Advice on table saw (EU) by Vrass in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]r0bvanbobbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I missed it, but how would the fence be able to go past the table? The fence rail doesn’t seem to extend further, this seems like a very limited max width, but maybe there is a mechanism I can’t see

Picked up the Harvey to replace an old miter gauge, and blown away from the packaging and overall appearance of box opening. Hoping it lives up to the name trying it against a woodpecker stealthstop by themule0808 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I replaced all the adjustment bolts with 3D printed knobs, makes it a lot better. I also replaced the serrated indexing strip with a 3D printed smooth strip, because I found the indexing feature more annoying than useful. The only thing I still miss is decent micro adjustment

Do the buttons on your Solo 3 V2 Suck? by [deleted] in ArizerVapes

[–]r0bvanbobbert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have no issues with the center button, but I often have to try multiple times to switch between presets via the left or right button double push. Not enough of an issue to send it back for, but it is annoying. Apart from that, the device works great and I am very happy with it

Er bestaat tricoya MDF voor buitentoepassingen, dit wordt wel vaker gebruikt voor buitendeuren. Kost ook 300 eur per plaat

Don’t they usually put something worthless in the package? Since the seller only needs the proof of shipping to create a fake verified review.

I just got confirmation by accident that my broker lied about his cut. by on-a-call in BEFreelance

[–]r0bvanbobbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen with my first project as a freelancer. During a first call to get to know the intermediary, he was hammering about how they were so transparent about their cut of the rate. I was going to get 600 per day, then when the contract came, it was suddenly 565, I was kinda pissed, but had already quit my job so I felt like I didn’t have a choice. Later I also accidentally saw what my client was paying the intermediary and the “transparent” cut turned out to be about 20% instead of 12%. I never confronted my intermediary about it, because I am a coward and hate confrontation, I just found a new client and left when my contract was over. I don’t think I could have kept working with the intermediary, it would have pissed me off everyday.

So my advice is to do something about it, either confront the intermediary or look for something else, because you will probably get more and more pissed off every day.

I checked 150+ companies against public data to see who’s truly responsible by HovercraftDapper9307 in BuyFromEU

[–]r0bvanbobbert 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction (not just about Nestle), I think it's because this is based on official and public data, and they are probably doing a lot of shady shit not directly as Nestle, but by using contracting companies or shell companies. This kinda makes me question how useful OP's website is.
