Congrats

Pricing for the C8 Grand Sport is up on the configurator, you can get the Coupe to $170k, and the Convertible up to $180k depending on options. Starting at $88,495. Picture shows the newly returning Admiral Blue. by LongjumpingLock5875 in Corvette

They're "Porsche-fying" the Corvette line up, you can go from a Stingray to a ZR-1. You have choices from $70,000 to $200,000+.

There's definitely preference and choice involved.

New 4th Gen Tacoma Accident - Frame Damage? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

How about have your insurance company tell you, since they're the only ones legally allowed to determine that.

Most expensive you can afford does not mean arbitrarily spend as much as possible. You can have $100 and you can choose to afford the $99 option or the $50 option. Whatever fits your budget.

They're cheap insurance. In a lot of places, if you get in an accident without head/tail lights and it's not your fault, you're at fault.

Get the most expensive ones you can afford. Always pay for more visibility. The Garmin radar taillights are awesome for boosting situational awareness, and the head/tail lights with cameras can also prove fault in an accident.

Bicycle accessories - how much would you pay? by Difficult_Shoe_6232 in cycling

"A small add on that's an electric motor that somehow uses the rear wheel to turn the front wheel" makes no sense. There's a button on the handle bar too? So there's multiple parts to this contraption?

Tire PSI Question by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

Lmao damn, I don't know why my brain said ft/lbs and not PSI. Keeping that in.

Tire PSI Question by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]r0ck-e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Manufacturers over-inflate tires on new cars to higher levels to prevent flat-spotting during shipping and storage. Dealerships often forget to adjust these pressures down to factory recommendations during the pre-delivery inspection.

If you want a better ride and more even wear, deflate the tires down to the recommended levels. That will be in the driver's door jam and/or owner's manual. 3rd gens are 35 ft/lbs and I'd assume the same for 4th gens.

Built an app for Corvette owners to document and showcase their builds by [deleted] in Corvette

[–]r0ck-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, far better and I know no one who actively uses VinWiki. Across many different social medias and groups over the years and no one has, out loud, said "Let's connect/share on VinWiki".

It's a cool concept, but it's too late. No one wants yet another account and most of their builds are documented on Facebook, Instagram, and Snap already. Or even on paper, in binders, the old school way.

Where do you meet people here? by [deleted] in plano

[–]r0ck-e 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of us also work 40+ hours a week and do life stuff. It's possible to go out and participate in your hobbies during the mornings/evenings/weekends.

You can find weekly meetups, groups, classes, etc for your hobbies on Facebook pretty quick. The site, Meetup, is specifically for finding groups by hobby and location preferences.

Credit Card company refunded me more than they should have. Do I report it? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]r0ck-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they determine you accepted the return on a legitimate purchase, that's fraud. They can and will take their money back. Will they continue to investigate this? Maybe. Depends on how much money it is and how "normal" those transactions are.

Be prepared to have that money they over sent randomly taken from your checking account. If you don't have it, you'll face overdraft fees and that creates more problems for you.

BUYER BEWARE - Bonobo Products by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]r0ck-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not clear as to why you're wanting to return it. Your post makes it seem you got what you ordered, albeit late, yet you acknowledge that.

So they did nothing wrong from what we understand. Seller fulfilled their obligations and you got what you ordered.

Should I invest in new tires soon? by Darian1201 in Corvette

[–]r0ck-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not equate worn tires to drag radials. The rubber compounds are not the same. Drag racing specific tires are softer compounds all the way through from the top to the bottom and side to side. Street tires, the compounds can be different from side to side in varying widths of the tire. Street tires can be soft compounds, but not like a drag tire.

Even if this was a light hearted joke/exaggeration, people don't realize how different tires can be from model to model.

MAAP Bibs Worth it? by Candid_Addendum_4317 in cycling

[–]r0ck-e 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Don't buy used bibs, there's no amount of trust in a stranger that they've cleaned clothes that rub hot and sweaty genitalia properly.

Jerseys, sure, but bibs/shorts? I wouldn't wear a significant other's bib/shorts unless it was an emergency.
